Watt Hotel Rahway, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

The front desk agents seemed not too happy about there job and didn't follow up when I was following up about a early check in . I had to follow up myself to findout when the room was ready. The lobby was nice along with the bar. The rooms weren't bad but the air seemed very dry as it was hard to breathe. The rooftop though is the best part by far as far as a view in the morning,mid day ,afternoon or night. The area isn't bad aswell as you have good bagel,pizza or Cafe with waffles around you along with a plaza .

As a Hilton Honors Diamond member I enjoy staying at different properties across the Hilton portfolio when I visit a particular area. Being a resident of New Jersey, staying in this area is important to me when I don't wish to drive home after dark. A rarity, but I had stayed at the Watt once before for a similar reason. One cannot beat its proximity to a train station, which is the way I usually travel. Coming home from a much longer trip on Amtrak to Metropark, I was able to leave my car where it was, hop up one station on NJT to Rahway to get to this hotel.||As I always do, via the Hilton app I checked in and chose my room the day before arrival. Hotel boasts a fantastic location, right across from a public transportation station, making it super convenient for getting around. However, the hotel doesn’t offer parking, which can be a bit tricky for those driving, and we ended up paying $14 for overnight parking. The cleanliness was quite good, and the staff was very accommodating, especially when we requested hypoallergenic bedding for a friend with allergies.

By mistake, I booked a same-day reservation through Expedia. I clearly explained at check-in that the booking was made for later and asked how to handle it. The front desk staff told me to pay at the hotel and said Expedia would refund the reservation. Everything seemed fine until the next morning, when I went back to the front desk to ask about the Expedia refund. I was then told that the hotel does not allow cancellations within 24 hours — completely contradicting what I was told at check-in. This was misleading and extremely frustrating. Better communication and transparency are needed to avoid putting guests in this situation.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. It gives off vibes that it’s high end, but has many aspects feeling cheap. For example, the lobby looks grand, but you exit the elevators on your floor and you’re in a dingy lobby that needs your key card to exit into the room hallway. The room looked nice, but the fixture next to the bed didn’t turn on (lamp nor power outlet); and the bathroom fixtures were all scratched and cheap looking. ||I experienced rude difficult customer service at check in at 11pm (you’d think they’d have nothing better to do but provide good kind service), but then I had good customer service at checkout.||The bed was comfortable and clean, and the bathroom clean too.||The hallway felt very much like a dorm room hallway, it was very peculiar. ||They didn’t provide any welc
