Walker Hotel

This place is not on par with most. It is a 85-90 dollar a night hotel, most certainly not the 135 they want to charge . The smoke alarm in the room was missing with bare wires coming out of the ceiling. Cigarette burns in chair fabric and on countertops. The bed must have been 20 years old. Towels were about the same as 50 grit sandpaper. Breakfast is basically not there unless you want fruit loops. Spend the extra 20 bucks and stay somewhere else in town.

When I arrived at the hotel, the owner was standing outside smoking a cigarette. I waited at the counter while he finished his cigarette, I didn’t realize he was the owner at first, but it almost became an issue when I checked in because I did not have an ID (domestic violence survivor)—he seemed hesitant to let me stay until I mentioned contacting a family advocate. Took 25 minutes to check me in. When I asked for three pool towels, he didn’t respond, but later he went into the pool area and brought only two. The wife, who clearly runs the place, was extremely rude. The way she spoke to me was demanding and unkind, which made the stay even more uncomfortable. Very bad experience. Our room smelled strongly of mold from the bedding and air conditioner. The bathroom had visible mold growing on the curtain and walls. The bedding was ripped. Multiple “out of service” signs on the pool and breakfast areas. Would be best to stay somewhere else in Walker.

Toilet not clean upon check in. The “free breakfast” is a very generous description, I would rather have picked something up at the dollar store. I don’t trust anything not sealed in package on this counter, which is oatmeal and peanut butter packets basically.

The room was clean except for the shower curtain mold and the moldy coffee pot. The pool had something with a string attached to it shoved in a jet and that was not investigated further. The fruit flies in the moldy juice cooler were so thick they were so thick you couldn't see the bottom of the cup and the juice actually sprayed out not poured out as it should. The yogurt was expired and we were told since it wasn't opened it wasn't expired. As we were getting ready to leave they were around our vehicle walking around it and investigating everything. Very creepy and very suspicious. We stayed here on 11/22. I don't recommend at all. They need serious management help.
