Villa Franca Inn

Upon entering the room we smelled an intense stench of mildew and must. The smell was so strong that we began having headaches, even after opening the windows the unpleasant odor was still very strong. This hotel is also next to houses that are being constructed so we could hear very loud power tools and music while we were there. The carpet in the room was stained and the stench made me ill. I let the lady at the front desk know that we needed to cancel our reservation and why and she offered to change our room. We ended up going to a different hotel, I do not recommend this hotel. Go somewhere else and save yourself the trouble!

Positive: Nice comfortable bed.. Negative: Slightly dated furniture, but clean and adequate for our needs.

I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel. The room had an overwhelming musty odor that smelled like mold, making it feel unclean and poorly maintained. Opening the windows to get fresh air only made things worse. There was active construction directly outside, constant loud noise, blaring music, and cigarette smoke pouring into the room. The conditions were so unpleasant that we chose not to stay at all. This was a deeply disappointing and unacceptable experience.

Great service and tidy rooms. Had the essential accomodations at a reasonable price. A nice little quaint inn for anyone looking to have a pleasant getaway. Great location, only a 5 min drive or 15-20 min walk from the Wharf. Highly recommend it to anyone. My only complaint was that the room I stayed in had a noise that came from the AC/plumbing…it is a little old, but nonetheless worth every penny spent.

I recently stayed at the Villa Franca Inn in Monterey, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. For nearly $600 for two nights, I expected a clean and safe room, instead, I found visible mold in the shower, which is a serious health hazard. I took photos and notified the property directly, but I never received any response or acknowledgment. The lack of cleanliness and the complete lack of customer service are unacceptable. I would not recommend staying here, especially at this price point. There are much better and safer options in Monterey.
