Monterey Hostel

Hands down the best hostel (or hotel) experience I’ve had! Stayed over Christmas – super close to the aquarium and Cannery Row, clean comfy rooms, great vibe. Staff were awesome, friendly and helpful. A big storm knocked out all the power in the town on Christmas Eve/Day, but they kept things positive and even put out a huge holiday food platter. Highly recommend

What a find! I had planned to find a nice hotel, traveling alone with my two young grandsons for spring break. Reading reviews and noting pricing of local hotels, few located near the main downtown area and Aquarium (our main focus), I was not excited. The Monterey Hostel had great reviews, and I decided to take a chance. Of note: I haven't stayed in a hostel in decades, and my friends and family were sure this would be an epic fail. Wrong! I reserved a room with a queen bed, bunk beds for the boys and a private bath. Check in was welcoming and friendly. The Hostel is immaculate, modern, and has a wonderful atmosphere––-with travelers from all over, and lots of activity. What a great place with an amazing location. It is within walking distance of so much good stuff including the aquarium, Cannery Row, and tons of good food! One of the best finds in my opinion. I went with my whole family (5 adults, 2 kids) and got the suite rooms. They fit us so well and were well kept. The staff was very kind to all of us so it is safe to say they are family friendly. Next time we are in town, we will be staying here.

Great location and vibe here. The place was clean and the folks here were very friendly and helpful. I'm taking away a star because the beds in the shared room didn't have privacy curtains. Every hostel I've stayed at overseas had privacy curtains on all of the bunk beds in shared rooms. Loved it here, otherwise.

Absolutely incredible place to stay in Monterey! The hostel is super artsy, with a wide-open kitchen setup and plenty of parking. The bedrooms and bathrooms are super clean, and the staff is incredibly helpfull and kind. I checked in late at night (after 7pm during winter hours), yet they were super quick to respond over text with my door code and making sure I was alright for the night. I actually ran into the staff member who had been texting me over the Monterey Hostel phoneline as he was leaving to go home, because he didn't want to leave the hostel before I was able to enter with my code. They go above and beyond for the people staying at the hostel. Also, the hostel is in perfect walking distance from the beach and shops in downtown Monterey. I stay here everytime I come to Monterey
