TownePlace Suites by Marriott Miami Homestead

Unfortunately not worthy of 5 stars. Its just not a 5 star Hotel..sorry... We spent a month here. Quite a bit cheaper than Miami. Our room had a full sized fridge, microwave, coffee maker, stove, oven...everything we needed for our longer stay. Easy walk to a Publix as well as several fast food places like KFC, Wendy's, McDonalds...as well as Outback and a few other restaurants. A convenient trolley that is free and stops a hundred yards away will whisk you further away to a shopping mall. If you like walking or jogging there is a great track next door that goes around 2 ponds. As well as a small but adequate gym in the hotel. Convenient washer & dryer as well on the 1st floor. A nice pool. I do wish management would not allow the " freeloaders" that arrive on Sat/ Sunday with 10 kids. The

Really nice hotel, very clean and modern. We’ve always had good experiences with Marriott hotels, and this one was no different. A big plus was having an electric car charger, so we could start the day with a fully charged battery. The only small downside was the breakfast toaster — it’s really slow, and they could definitely get a better one.

I have generally been very happy with Marriott properties in the past, but I have to say this was one of the best experiences I've had. My husband and I stayed in a 1 bedroom suite for 2 weeks with our 2 dogs. First off, we appreciated how pet friendly the property was, and how reasonable the pet fee. We were also very impressed by how spacious and comfortable the room was, and the kitchen had everything we needed. At no time did we feel cramped, even with LOTS of personal belongings. Pool area was nice, though I wish there had been a jacuzzi. We also liked having the BBQ grill available, and the staff even had a nice grill cart setup with tools. The free breakfast was better than average, and they made an effort to vary the options from day to day, which was appreciated during a long stay

This is a newer property and the rooms were pretty nice, although you could see a little wear and tear starting in the bathroom. What I didn't appreciate-- we showed up and were told that one of our rooms had been "upgraded" to a 1 bedroom suite (we had reserved a room with 2 queen beds). Well, the room was for our teens and so now one of them had to sleep on the sofa bed which is woefully inadequate for anyone weighing over 50 pounds. Seriously, this is a sofa bed fit only for young kids. If we had not had a bait and switch, I would probably have given the stay 5 stars.

The location is convenient, not the best but ok. The rooms are just basic well used rooms, nothing to write home about. The service….. there is much room for improvement! I’m guessing The day and night front desk staff do not talk? I had a confirmed late checkout time via night clerk when I checked in, the day clerk got an attitude when they called to see “why” im still in the room after their checkout time. I told them I have a confirmation from the night clerk and the app, she said they do not have that info and was just really rude and argumentative about it. The rooms and rate are not good enough for the staff to act like that. There are plenty of other places to stay rather than deal with staff with bad attitudes!
