TownePlace Suites by Marriott Boise West/Meridian

Last week, my wife and I flew into Boise/Meridian, unfortunately for the funeral of my closest friend of 47 years. When I went to check in at TownePlace, the young lady with a beautiful smile, asked me what brought me there. I told her I was there to attend my closest friends, funeral, and deliver a eulogy. I could see her smile change to an Expression of empathy. She offered her condolences and proceeded to check me into my room. This was by far the worst stay my family has had with Marriott after many stays over the months and years. I traveled with two kids, their grandma, and my wife, and the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The issues began with the restroom lights, which were flickering constantly. At times they wouldn’t turn on at all, and it seemed like there was a connection problem with the light switch. This made using the bathroom frustrating and inconvenient. The air conditioning was also unreliable. The first night, we didn’t have AC at all, which made the room uncomfortable, especially with a full group staying in the suite it was very hot in both rooms but the living rooms room seemed to be fine. I booked a 2 night stay at this hotel for the pool and hot tub. I've had experience with the pool being closed at other hotels, so I called to make sure the pool and hot tub would be open. On the day of check-in before going to the hotel, I spoke with the GM, who told me that the pool was closed for maintenance, but it would be open later that day. When I arrived at the hotel, about 4 hours later, the receptionist told me that the pool was closed and she didn't think it would be open that day. I told her that I talked to the GM who told me it would be open. Then the GM came out of her office and said that she remembered speaking to me and stated that the pool would be open later that night. She wasn't apologetic about the pool being closed at all. We had the 2 bedroom suite which with 3 young children was simple amazing. The kitchen was stocked with the basics for cooking and a toaster. The breakfast down stairs was nice but completely the same everyday. A little variety would be nice on the hot dishes. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff was also very accommodating in caring for our room while we stayed. I would absolutely stay here again. It was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. The location was also fantastic being just off the freeway and very easy to get to.

The staff were great! Free breakfast was good too. Unfortunately the indoor pool wasn't working but they posted that on their website. Using booking.com was my mistake because they didn't let me know about the pool. I found out after I couldn't cancel the trip because it was too late. I got a room with a kitchenette which was great because we love to cook.
