Management is holding this beautiful park back Pros: Beautiful setting, plenty of wildlife, lots of potential. Cons: Giant potholes, tight spaces, and non-existent communication. We went days without water or showers due to a freeze, but the staff never bothered to notify guests or give updates. To top it off, the office staff lied about a package delivery, causing me to drive 40 minutes away for something they had the whole time. When I finally got it, there was no apology. We usually make the best of things, but the poor management made it impossible to enjoy the stay. Would not recommend until they hire more (and better) staff. Date of stay 1/22/26-1/31/26
Pros: Quiet Cute rabbits, but watch out for deer. They are literally everywhere. Cons: The roads are extremely neglected - potholes everywhere and some deep rivulets in the dirt, with patches of asphalt, near the pool area. The rest of the roads in the park are full of potholes. You also need to watch out for tree branches that are encroaching on the roadway. Maintenance: Wow, where to start? We were here 6 days and never saw ANY maintenance being done. There were so many sites that had weeds and dead grass all over them. Some of the grass was taller than the dilapidated picnic tables. No one could take 10 min with a weed eater and clean up a site? A lot of sites also had tree branches and/or bushes that would impede you trying to put out your slides. We took a look at the first site th
Narrow roads, roads in the campground basically destroyed, but our site was very nice if you can deal with 20 psi water pressure. About the equivalent of butterfly piss.
This was a nice quiet park for labor day weekend. While the lake was dried up, we were still able to get wet in the pool/hot tub. Nice trails with tons of wildlife. Amazing sunsets too.
So beautiful and serene, I think the staff are also quiet and not to be disrupted. I’m lucky I could follow someone else (with permission) when I arrived around 730pm and the gate code didn’t work and the ranger didn’t answer the phone. Flake Medina is hardly ever full and possibly hasn’t seen water since 2017, so some false advertising. In fact, we met people who came for the lake! I don’t mind it overgrown, it’s beautiful and tons of natural flowers and plants, even mullein as well as wild deer. Enjoy!
