The Westerner - Extended Stay

We booked this hotel based on the photos, and that was our main mistake. In reality, the hotel is very different from what is shown in the pictures. Technically, the photos are accurate, but the overall impression is like night and day. Everything looks old, worn out, and in need of a very deep cleaning — literally everything. There are various unpleasant smells throughout the hotel, depending on the area. Our room had a very strong and heavy chemical smell, so intense that it raised concerns about whether it was even safe for our health. The windows were extremely dirty. Sleeping was noisy from both sides: on one side, the room door opens into the atrium with constant foot traffic, and on the other side, the windows face a very loud highway. I love a hotel with a enclosed common space in the middle of all the rooms. It was very aesthetic. They have breakfast. It was ok. I would not pay for the "hot breakfast". It was not hot. The rooms were kind of updated. The bathrooms were not updated. Clean beds. Kinda noisy with the common space echoing. We only stayed for one night. |.

Even thought the exterior it’s nice and it offers some good amenities the rooms are very motel 6. We struggled with the door lock due to having to tug at it to get it to open. The wall plugs did not work in the room except for 1 or two we had to unplug either the tv or fridge just to use the microwave. The website says free breakfast but when we went down the only thing that was free was either cereal or waffles and coffee. And we don’t mind paying for a good breakfast but this was not it….

Great hotel. Everything you need cheap. Cheap weekly stays and allows pets. No need to deal with any employees if you don't want too. Called and booked over the phone and received a text with the room door code over the phone. Housekeeping only comes if scheduled so you can sleep in. Great free breakfast with no limits that I seen. Bacon is hard to come by in the breakfast but plenty of Everything else. Only thing I don't like about this hotel is there is only 1 location wish they had more. Beautiful inside with an indoor pool. Oh forget dog crap everywhere including by the doors. If you ask why it's never cleaned or why they don't force dog owners to pick it up by law they respond we are really dog friendly. That i didn't like either because who wants that on their shoes due to lazy dog o

UPDATE #2: The property issued a refund. Still recommend avoiding location at all cost. UPDATE: Owner reached out and said he would give me a refund if I took this review down. I'm not going to but I still better get my refund. The owner obviously did see the free pets because the listing was adjusted by the following morning. Imagine being gaslighted by a hotel. This will be added to the complaint with the attorney general. ORIGINAL: Listing states pets stay free, they try to charge $20 on check in. I got a refund and went elsewhere. Seems the business doesn't shy away from shady practices based on the reviews. Complaint submitted to the Texas Attorney General for false advertising.
