The Wayfarer San Diego

I'm so happy we booked The Wayfarer on a whim while visiting California. When I booked it online I hadn't realized that it was literally on the beach! When we arrived our room was ready and we had exceptional customer service and I wish I knew her name to give a shout out but all the staff were awesome and friendly and very happy. The whole place was clean and you can tell it has been renovated. Reading through the reviews some are negative but we have nothing bad to say, the room it's self was clean and had zero odor and the beds were comfy. We had a balcony that had a view of the ocean in our room so that was awesome. The parking is definitely $40 a day but you can park on the public street for free but because it's right next to the beach/boardwalk and lot's of restaurants you may not f

We had an ocean view room. The room is very small, which is ok, because it's just needed to sleep. The bedside lamp has spiderweb and dust/lent from not being cleaned. The water pressure in the shower really sucks! I was beginning to think i wouldn't get the shampoo rinsed from my hair! On a plus side. The view from the room is beautiful! The front desk staff was very nice. Rooms are quiet. Beds are comfortable.

The rooms with ocean view were spectacular, Stephanie and Aaron at the front desk and all the staff were warm and helpful. Staff responded to our every request in a prompt and thorough way. Coffee at the Zephyr cafe is great-- and they also have some good nibbles in the morning. They accommodated our large family with multiple toddlers well. The hot tub was wonderful, as was the pool. A beautiful section of the beach could not have been closer.

Overall, I had a good stay at The Wayfarer. The interiors are nicely updated, though the exterior looks a bit dated. There were some noises (like the refrigerator and occasional clicking or water-dropping sounds), which were slightly annoying. Parking at $40 per night is quite tight and could be stressful during peak season. The beachfront location is definitely the biggest plus. Room service was good, and the front desk staff was helpful during check-in. I might explore other hotel options next time, but this was still a decent stay overall.

Outstanding location! It’s on the beach, and many rooms offer balcony views of Pacific Beach. Great eating and drinking facilities are within easy walking distance. The rooms are a bit run down, but let’s face it: the beach can be rough on physical structures. And given the location, who wants to spend too much time in the room?
