The US Grant, a Luxury Collection Hotel, San Diego

I’m pretty disappointed with our stay here. I specifically booked this hotel through the Chase Edit program because of the extra perks, but in the end I didn't receive any. I know the room upgrade is "subject to availability" and I did not receive one...but I’d even reached out to the concierge before our trip to ask for an upper floor. Instead, they put us on the absolute lowest guest floor possible. Also, the welcome amenity that was promised? Never showed up. The biggest issue was the $100 hotel credit and the breakfast benefit. The front desk flat out refused to honor them because I didn't have the physical Chase credit card on me...only my virtual one (tap to pay) on my phone. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I have been an IHG Platinum status holder for almost 2 decades so I almost always stay in their hotels, but we had some AMEX points to spend so we booked a stay here. I didn't even realize it was a Marriott until we checked in. While I have watched other full service high-end hotels with IHG cut their services and staff over the last decade while hiking prices, this hotel gives me faith that there are still hotels out there taking the service and experience seriously. It was a fantastic 4 day stay - we ordered room service and ate in the restaurant quite a bit (which we don't normally do because we prefer to get into local restaurants) and every meal with them was great. Convenient location and walking distance to the bay. Spacious room with luxury design. Bathroom with privacy at the back of the room. Very comfy bedding and nice staff. The coffee dispenser was empty in the lobby, will be perfect if refilled it in time.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of San Diego! We enjoyed our staycation here, a great value for the price. Enjoyed the live music in the lobby and the staff service was truly exceptional, from the check in staff to the in room dining staff, everyone was very professional, friendly and attentive to our needs. The room was clean and the products provided were of good quality. My husband forgot his coat in the room and it was absolutely no problem getting it back after check out. We absolutely plan to come back. My only suggestion would be to improve the vegan friendly options for in-room dining to more than just fruit.

Overall, had a good experience. The hotel is centrally located to much of the action in the Gaslamp District, making it very walkable. The team was very friendly and professional. The room itself was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I slept great! My constructive feedback would be the outrageous 2 hrs it took for our room service to deliver breakfast on Sunday morning. That's way too long for a five-star hotel. Our bags were also being held downstairs while we waited for our check-in. When we arrived, they were promised to be sent up, but it took so long that we had to call and check in on things, as we were on a time crunch for dinner. The room also lacks a fridge, which I found a little odd. The valet was prompt and professional. They do have an awkward entrance that comes in f
