Walking into the standard based off a friend's recommendation i was immediately impressed by the beautiful lobby. Very chic and stylistic. The Gingerbread house aka living room area was nice when we arrived early and out room wasnt quite ready yet. Once we were able to get settled in our room I loved how it was designed, styled, and furnished. Little touches go a long way. Big beautiful windows overlooking the city. Sexy bathroom and open shower right next to bed, definitely creates a vibe ✨️. Mirrors everywhere for all the views ☺️ My only complaint would be the first night our shower handle was malfunctioning. We couldn't get the water to get warm, but my fiance was able to fix it temporarily. Maintenance came by later the next day to fix it, but it was when we popped back in the room
This was my first work trip of 2026 and my visit made me happy to be back traveling for work!! The property is classic nyc cool in a prime location for walking, shopping and eating. Even though this property is nearing 20years old, it’s in amazing shape and still looks elevated and cool. My room was a dream - literally got a 99 sleep score- well outfitted and incredible views. I have to also mention the staff. I travel A LOT and it’s very rare to see people actually enjoying themselves at work and being authenticity kind. Every time i walked by the lobby it felt like I was saying hi to my friends. Shout out to David, Ramel, Juan and Alexis!! Thank you for making my experience so memorable! ❤️
Positive: The European vibe, location, and staff Negative: There were 2 times that people were found to be trying to access the rooms even though they did not have key cards to access the elevator, but they were trying to sneak
The Standard remains the ultimate "oldie but goodie." As a creative who has stayed here many times, I returned for a staycation and was reminded why this Andre Balazs property is a fashion-industry gem. The service was impeccable. From the jump, Romel Barry at the front desk made my entire stay. He handled my room accommodations with a five-star touch and was a lifesaver regarding the pet policy (no fee for my pup under 50 lbs!). Whether it was the housekeeping team delivering items to my room expeditiously or Gary at the front desk bringing me water at 3:00 AM when I was dehydrated—every request was met with haste and intention. It’s the little things and the genuine care that keep this place a staple. I’ll be back.
I had been wanting to stay at this hotel, and I'm so glad I did. All of my interactions with the personnel were so kind and respectful. They team really went above and beyond at this hotel. I also love the location -- I was in town visiting from DC and it was very close to Penn Station to get home. The neighborhood was also a prime location and views were beautiful. I'll be staying again here soon!
