The Standard, East Village

I was genuinely so excited for our stay, as this was supposed to be a special Valentine’s weekend for my partner and me. Unfortunately, it turned into a very upsetting and disappointing experience from the moment we tried to check in. The woman at the front desk was incredibly rude and seemed irritated that we had booked in advance. Instead of welcoming us, she immediately told us that our reservation had been canceled without giving a clear reason. She claimed they had tried to reach us through Expedia and by phone, but we never received any notification or missed calls until the following day — after we had already shown up. Fantastic location and service. The location right between east village and west village is unbeatable. Service at the hotel was very friendly and kind. Tatianna, Kershel and Derrick each went above and beyond during our trip. Rooms are good - small but not tiny like some NYC hotels. The bed was comfy, shower was nice, great big windows and view, and each room has a desk which is a nice touch. Only complaint is that the TVs aren't smart tvs so can't stream videos.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the doorman. Before we could enter the building, he met us by the car and offered a cart for our luggage. Checking in was also a warm experience, we were offered water as Kershel confirmed our room numbers and placed our card on file. She gave us a brief virtual tour and told us to call front desk if we had any questions. The room and the views were nothing short of amazing. My favorite part of the room was the shower, it felt elegant, a little old school but somehow modern. And being a true NY hotel, where there’s a deli on every block, you didn’t have to go far to get a lot of things that you needed. The minibar’s selection had everything you could think of. I had booked a corner king and upon arrival there was a stain on the carpet and asked to be moved to a clean room, which they did immediately and got a better view. The experience manager Josh was very welcoming and informed me about the different types of corner Kings so that I could choose the one I preferred. When I returned for a second stay a few days later he offered me some thoughtful amenities and the front of house staff remembered me by name which was a nice touch. Overall, great location , attentive service, rooms can do with a bit of refreshing but would definitely stay either here or at the Highline Standard again.

Needed a quick getaway so I decided to stay at the standard for a weekend staycation. No regrets. The location is perfect if you want to go deeper into the city or make a quick run to Downtown Brooklyn. There’s lots of restaurants in the area so that’s a plus. Front desk staff was friendly and attentive. My room was immaculately clean. The rooftop views here are amazing. The hotel is very peaceful and mostly quiet. I didn’t encounter any major issues while staying here so I would definitely recommend it to others.
