The Shady Lawn Motel of Portage

The rooms are small efficiencies like a motel and I believe you have to furnish them yourselves. There are no closets. And there's a small bathroom. It appeared to be clean and up to date. It's located right on the main street so it's easy to get to but difficult to turn left out of the parking lot.

If you’re looking to stay at a dump, you found a dump, rooms smell musty, everything is outdated, this place needs to be closed down, they lie about everything and the prices, they ask a 100 dollar deposit for a security, but fail to tell you that they will never give it back to you, the office lady is very very shady as well, is all nice to you when you check a room out, once you get the room she changes the rules, . Let’s all call the city and get this place closed down, they also go by the budget motel in portage as well.

NO hospitality here whatsoever. my dad is staying here while he is working 8 hours from home so i came to visit for the weekend and brought his dog. Ms. Lucy kicked me out while my dad was at work saying there is, and i quote, a rule on no dogs. Despite the fact there was a man with a dog in the room right by us. Also i’m not too positive what the $100 deposit my dad had to put down was for, the room was literally held together with tape. My dad has been in prisons nicer, don’t let the outside fool you.

The lady running this place is not very friendly. She also keeps changing the rate of rooms compared to the $175.00 she has posted in her ad. Not the type of business owner I would consider dealing with beyond my phone call. It is a shame and unfortunate to have this as one of the limited choices in the community. Personally I would always choose Mom and Pop business... In this situation I will pay extra to be treated respectfully.

So if you're in Portage Wisconsin and need a decent place to stay for a night or a week at a time check the shady lawn. The lady in the office is very nice and will help off you need something. Rooms are clean but a little cold. Shady lawn..... give it a try it's pretty nice. 😁
