The Sands Resort

My family and I visited Ocean Shores this month over Memorial Day. The room was rustic and felt like a cabin.||||Nonetheless, still lots of room for improvement. Needs a lot of work still, very unkempt. In terms of the improvement, to start check in took a long time. They need more help at the front desk and need to modernize and completely remodel.||||Second, the WiFi was very spotty and forced us to just use data because we often lost the connection.||||Third, the room looked pattered. There was a rip on the door handle, trash under one of the queen beds, and a poster that was partially ripped. It looked very unprofessional...got to have better presentation than that for your guests.||||Fourth, in terms of breakfast, we had to go off site to purchase it as there were not even to go item

Let's start with the "ocean view," which was non-existent. I was on the second floor in a business room, and there was no view. There may have been more of a view on the third floor, but I can't speak to that. The room itself was not horrible. It was clean and fairly basic--a bed, towels, etc. There is no balcony, but I was able to leave the windows open to sleep to the distant sound of the shore. What I think was most frustrating was the lack of outlets in the room. Thankfully, I was traveling alone because if my partner had been with me, would have only been able to charge one phone at a time. There are 2 outlets in the room and one in the bathroom (also,there is no hair dryer). There was an old, cheap extension cord attached to one of the outlets, which had only two open slots, so I cou

The place is run down in many ways with repairs needed almost throughout the entire facility. The service was great, our room was perfect, clean and everything worked. We had a kitchenette. I would go there again. New money to make many repairs would be a good thing. We saw from the water side a lot of rooms with furniture stacked in many rooms. The wood deck at the clam cleaning station is rotten in places. I could go on and on but again all of the personal were very nice.

My family and I stay here every year, and it is nothing short of amazing! The rooms are HUGE, clean and comfortable!! The room we had this year was completely new! The staff are great!! Bobby, Heather and Sharon went out of their way to make sure our stay was pleasurable. These people that go on here and leave negative reviews are clearly not staying at the same place I do!! We got one of the pet friendly rooms, which I understand is more expensive due to it being pet friendly but the price for one night was quite steep for what was awaiting when we arrived. The room was unbelievably hot and had a musty smell when we first walked in, no AC or fans in the room... We thought to open a window to cool the room down but there were no screens on any of the windows. The cloth chairs and the carpets were stained and the interior was more than a little outdated. A tiny fridge and microwave were all of the available appliances. Extremely disappointing, I would recommend staying elsewhere!
