I had a great experience staying at this hotel. I originally chose to visit because one of my professors at Texas A&M University worked on the building as a preservation project, helping transform it into the hotel it is today. Knowing that academic and preservation background made the stay feel more meaningful from the start. I will admit I was a little nervous at first, especially given that the building originally served as an insane asylum and later a hospital. That history is impossible to ignore when you first arrive. However, after checking in, and interacting with the staff, that initial uneasiness faded quickly. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and over time the building began to feel comfortable. There also were not many people checked in during my visit. I am guessing t
The Richardson Hotel has a unique character that makes it stand out from typical places to stay. The building itself has a historic and impressive look, and the interior keeps that same atmosphere with spacious hallways and a calm, elegant design. My room was clean, comfortable, and had everything set up the right way for a relaxing stay. The bed was comfortable, the lighting was warm, and the space felt peaceful from the moment I walked in. The staff were welcoming and professional, handling everything smoothly from check-in to checkout. The lobby and common areas were well maintained and added to the overall experience of staying somewhere with real architectural charm. The hotel feels like a blend of history and comfort, and it makes the stay feel more meaningful compared to standard m
We love this hotel, both for its history and its present. We were here several years ago on a photography tour before the restoration had even begun, and then stayed at the hotel shortly after it opened. AMAZING work. It is a beautiful property and a comfortable stay. This time we came for the Holiday Market, which is on the property. We could walk right out the front door and be at the market and then come back to the hotel to warm up and relax.
I really enjoyed this hotel. It’s clean, has beautiful grounds, and I love that it has its own history. The rooms are small, but the high ceilings make them feel more open, and the soundproofing is excellent. Overall, a very pleasant stay.
What an incredible property! Everything was just so amazing given the building’s history. The rooms are lovely with 20ft ceilings and the grounds are fun to explore. The only hiccup was the breakfast. The poor woman manning the front desk (didn’t get her name) was the only person working and had to answer the phone, work the desk and restock the breakfast. Hard to believe a place of that size has so few people working. Somebody apparently called out but still, a lot of hotel for 2 people. Otherwise it’s a very cool place to stay for sure!
