The Pelican Key Largo Cottages

The experience totally depend on which cottage you stay in. We were near the road and the traffic noise from the Overseas highway completely ruined any relaxing feel the place could have had. People coming and going to the office, every guest had to drive by the only table we had - outside. Down by the water it was a different story. Calm, tropical and the vacation we were hoping for. The staff was fabulous - polite, friendly - available when needed. They even called me after we checked out to let me know I left something behind - much appreciated! The free kayaks were fantastic - saw manatees! The local restaurants (we tried 4) were all great with good food and better atmosphere. The fact that we could walk to them was a bonus as well.

This place was great, especially for the price! Awesome little cottages with beach access, free kayaks to use, great snorkeling right off the beach, and super friendly staff! You can hear the road noise a bit, but it's like that in most places in the Keys. Great cafe next door, and alot of stores in walking distance. I only stayed one night, but would definitely recommend it, especially for the price! The property is cool too with a bunch of trees and plants so it feels very serene and tropical. They also have a water fountain with bottle filling station in the office which was really great to use so I didnt have to drink the tap water or go buy a case of water!

The room(202) was neat and clean. There's no view or a functional window but location so great that we didn't mind staying in this room. It's a small but worked well for short stay. This property has private beach and it's amazing.

Best hotel (of seven) in our US trip. Lovely comfortable beach shack on the property running down to a secluded private beach, with amazing views of the sun set. Going the other way, a stone's throw from traditional diners and restaurants which make you feel as welcome as they do feed you well. Highly recommended.||The air conditioner unit was on its last legs and was way too noisy, perhaps time to replace it, if they haven't already...

When booking, make sure to ask for the exact location of your cottage! We booked for a five night stay and were assigned a noisy little cottage right by the highway— didn’t sleep at all the first night. The next day we asked to upgrade to a cottage near the water and it was like a different, wonderful resort! Sadly we were charged an “upgrade fee” of 150 dollars (even thought the more expensive cottages were vacant) in addition to paying the expected higher fee for the nicer cottages. Overall, a great location — we walked to dinner at different restaurants each night, used free kayaks to see manatees, and enjoyed the beach. We did a nice day trip to Key West one day. I would stay here again, but only in the waterfront cottages.
