The Outpost - New River Gorge Campground

We stayed in the new premium cabin, Abbey Road, for a girl’s weekend to hang out, hike and take it easy. This place was PERFECT!! The cabin was very stylish, had everything we needed, and was a great location. Everything we went to was only about a 7-12 min drive. The hot tub was amazing, the outdoor grill was clutch, and it felt private enough for us. We will 100% be back!!! Thanks for a wonderful stay. This place is definitely a gem!!

The Outpost is the perfect headquarters for your stay at The New River Gorge NP and Reserve.|The campground has several tiers of camping from primitive to glamping in a Grateful Dead themed vintage camper. There are large RV hookups as well. Although I camped in the only unprotected spot (tent/electric, with little privacy, the remainder of spots are in picturesque locations. Since I camped mid-week I didn’t see the weekend entertainment. I was told that the open field and stage host musical acts on Saturdays. The owners are currently building large elevated cabins to house larger parties.|Overall I appreciated the staff and super clean facilities. Had the most amazing birthday weekend here with a group of friends! The campground is super clean, safe, and has an incredibly fun and relaxed atmosphere. What really makes this place shine are the amazing owners, Ross and Tara — they’re genuinely kind people who go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels welcome and taken care of...as does their staff! They often host live bands (we were lucky to enjoy some during our stay!), and it was such a fun night. They even had their own bar and food available, plus brought in a food truck for the concert — such a cool touch that made the night feel like a private festival! Our new favorite campground! Awesome live music on the weekends, cool atmosphere, and super clean and updated bathrooms. The partial hookup RV spots are definitely pretty small, but it’s more than offset by the friendly atmosphere and amenities. Got to meet the owner, Ross, while he was helping at the bar. Very friendly and seems like he has plans to make The Outpost bigger and better. Hope to be back soon!

The Outpost was our first stop of a 15 stop road trip. It was awesome! Very helpful your reservation reminder gave detailed directions to take to get into the campground. The site we stayed at was spacious (site 18) with a nice fire ring. Campground is very well kept up with, bath houses were a 10/10, very quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Front desk staff were very helpful and kind. Campground is close proximity to a lot of fun stuff to do. Be careful on entry & exit of campground… just send it.
