The Morrison Hotel

This is a historic building that was originally built in the 1800s. The fact that it was bought and turned into a place to help the homeless get off of the streets and out of the elements is amazing. As someone who has visited a resident here, there are major repairs that need to be made to the structure of the building as well as the interior of the building. Hallway carpeting is worn and has a terrible odor. Many of the walls and doors have graffiti on them. It is very run down. I'm not sure who would be in charge of repairs but if we are trying to show human beings that we all have value the first step is ensuring the places we are housed in are places that any of us would want to live in.

Black mold has been growing behind the walls and these apartments slash "hotel rooms", for over a decade. Whenever a tenant files a complaint, D.E.S.C.(the landlord) responds by slapping another layer of paint over the black mold, and/or convincing the tenant that it is their responsibility.

It fills a need, but despite doing their best, staff have their hands full with their clientele, most of whom have mental illness and/or substance abuse problems. They deserve much credit. But there's usually a lot happening in and around the Morrison.

Where to begin... Would not have any stars but there are a few pluses the rent is super low... They do have staff onsite so no need to worry about unwanted guests... And they do have food twice a day... The rooms are small and basic but do have bed table two chairs and a fridge/freezer.... But it looks like a hospital... There are 6 floors of residents and only 2 dryers that work ... In the whole building, and maybe one per floor washing mashine... And if you dont stay with your clothes they will be permanently borrowed by some of Arkham asylums(batman reference) best and brightest... But like i said at the beginning... Its a place and its still a place to get back on your feet...
