The Monterey Hotel

I stayed at The Monterey Hotel for 4 nights and I can say it was one of the highlights of my trip. After a long day of adventuring having a beautiful historic hotel to come back and rest at was amazing. The location is perfect in the heart of old town Monterey almost everything you could need is only 1 mile or less. 11/10 I recommend

We had the most amazing stay for Nee Years Eve last night - felt like we were stepping into another century of elegance and beauty with all the historic pieces throughout within this beautiful historic hotel. The room was so pretty and the bed extremely comfortable - we slept like logs. Location could not have been more perfectly situated to enjoy First Night Monterey NYE festival. It needed the night at the British pub on the corner which was so much fun. Our stay was truly magical and we will be back again no doubt.

Positive: Location (easy walking distance to the following: Fisherman's Wharf, good places to eat at all price points, Walgreen's just a few doors down); location is the ONLY reason to recommend hotel. Negative: Lack of room amenities typical for hotels at this price point: no room cleaning during (6) night stay, no complimentary breakfast, no trash pickup; accessibility to room was poor, needing to go through winding hallways

We had an amazing experience. We highly recommend booking directly through the hotel as Expedia had issues with our booking. Katie at the front desk really helped us out and explained the ease of parking nearby or vallet and all the places around. It's a Historic Hotel so the regular rooms are a tad tight, def worth upgrading to a larger room. We stayed in the King Suite and for the price you can't beat it. We had a beautiful view of the Marina. Everything is close, we never drove once. We tried so many great restaurants, bars, pubs, coffee shops, doughnut shops you name it. The Marina is a 5 min walk. Such a fantastic trip. Def will want to come back. If you like history, being close to everything, and good pricing stay here!

The staff is friendly, and the location is unbeatable. They offer on-line upgrades for room level and late checkouts that I used. Our unity had a gas fireplace, and we loved our stay.
