Please note: The Legacy Inn operates similarly to an AirBnB. There are no staff on site or front desk personnel. You and other guests will have codes to get into the building and into your room. Personally, this felt a little odd especially during off-season when it was just us and one other room occupied each night. Room for improvement with cleanliness, accommodations, and renovations.
I recently stayed in the so-called Carter and Cash Suite, a thoroughly depressing tribute of sorts to the country music legends. Google leaves no other option but picking at least one star. This place does not deserve one star. Pros: The bed was indoors and protected from the outdoor elements. That's it. That's the only good thing I can say about the accommodations. Cons: The negative aspects of staying at this place begin as soon as you complete your booking. Following that, you become inundated with intellectually insulting messages about the property, its policies, the multi-page contract that must be signed, multiple reminders that you dare not attempt to check in even one minute before the designated time, and about how great their customer service is ("just call or text anytim
We booked the Eden suite for the big bathtub to soak in after hiking each day in Shenandoah, and it did not disappoint. The mini split AC, comfortable bed, and sound machine were great for sleep. The location is charming and convenient--take a short walk behind the inn to the river and bike path. Breakfast is no longer offered and the coffee is Keurig coffee pods, but there's amazing coffee and breakfast a short walk away at Broad Porch coffee. The management team was communicative and responsive. It's kind of like an AirBnB--virtual check in, enter with a code, no staff on site unless they need to address an issue. I think it helps to know what to expect. Personally we like the hands-off format.
We had the Cash and Carter room. It was fine. A bit dated. The problem was with the general condition of the grounds. See the photos. Maintenance was definitely lacking. The other thing was that the listing said fresh pastries would be available from 9 am. We stayed two nights and neither morning were pastries brought into the common area where the coffee and tea was. I specifically asked the manager Tony by text when the pastries would be delivered and even waited until 9:30 (listing said 9) and still nothing either day. No explanation given by Tony after he said he'd check in with whoever was in charge of this detail. All in all it was an okay place to stay given the close proximity to the Caverns but I doubt I'd stay again or recommend it. The Mimslyn was a much nicer property and ver
Everything was great! Had a lovely nights of rest. Woke up to snow on the ground first day Couldn't be more perfect. Found some nice restaurants, lovely town for foodies. Such a great town. Hospitality was exquisite.
