TUBING review. These folks are awesome. Lots of good options. Easy online reservations. Good equipment. Friendly, helpful staff. Most important, about the last point: My sister and I took our mother tubing for her 90th birthday (her birthday wish). She's a little unsteady on her feet, but still a fish in water. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful to us as we got her into and out of the shuttle buses, and into and out of the tubes. They never hesitated to offer her an arm to help her up or down a step, in or out of the water. She had a blast. A lot of it had to do with the river. And a lot of it had to do with the folks at Shenandoah River outfitters. My sister and I could not be more grateful.
The tent sites were not well organized when we arrived, the poor front desk attendant was left not knowing who was occupying which sites so we were referred to 2 areas that were a little more secluded which we appreciated since she did know there was Boy Scouts around. The sites themselves are spacious with a fire ring, charcoal grill and picnic table. Bathrooms were decent but the showers were very dark and filled with so many bugs that I didn’t even use them. As advertised, service is spotty at best, very random when I would be able to receive or a send a text. Make sure you have everything planned before arriving as you won’t be able to Google nearby food, shops etc. The front desk had a magazine with places listed but hard to pick a place when you can’t see menus or reviews when we wer
This is not a family-friendly cabin. |Also, it's not clean at all. Bugs are everywhere, everything inside the cabin is so old and outdated. Need to make some updates if you want to continue the business. ||Never went to a cabin where you had to take your own trash to the dumpster, about 4 miles away. The beds are extremely uncomfortable, cooking utensils are dirty and old.... bugs everywhere on them... We booked for 3 nights but could not stay another night and left early. As soon as I walked into the cabin... it smelled so bad... I had to leave all the windows open... no wifi inside the cabin... it's an absolute nightmare... with little kids staying here... do not waste your money... pay extra... and find somewhere else.... |
We just spent two nights tent camping at the Shenandoah River Outfitters. The campsite was full for Saturday night and they were very, very kind and allowed us to camp in their pavilion area. This ended up being a blessing in disguise. It was SO SO SO loud with partying, music, and mayhem until early in the morning that my husband and I hardly slept. Luckily our children slept through most of it. We were hoping the second night would be better since a majority of the campers seemed to be leaving. They offered to let us stay in the pavilion and so we did camp there again the second night. It ended up being even more noisy, crazy, and loud. Please were yelling, partying, screaming, fighting, into the early hours of the morning. The bathroom facilities were terrible. There was a str
Great campground. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Campsites are selected on a first come, first serve basis---so you get to pick your own site, but that might be a better deal arriving at 3pm vs 9pm. Restrooms and facilities were clean and well-maintained. Walk down to the river was pleasant. Great time exploring trails by river. There is access to a large pond for fishing/birdwatching/hiking as well.
