Customer Reviews
The Jane Hotel is a cool, quirky West Village spot! The cabin-style rooms are small but charming (great beds, fun maritime decor, clean and cozy). Service was solid—staff friendly and helpful with recommendations. Location is excellent: steps from the Hudson River, Meatpacking nightlife, High Line, and easy subway access. Rooftop bar views are a highlight! Not for big luggage or luxury seekers, but perfect for a stylish, unique NYC stay.
Convenient location, minimalist amenities. Great neighborhood, totally walkable, restaurants and other retail easily available. Hotel bar was fine, as a single female I hadn’t any problems. Staff was adequate. I reported a mouse in my room and asked to switch rooms. The manager said mice are part of living downtown. I live in downtown Chicago and haven’t had any infestation anywhere. I’d do it again, I know what to expect.
The best thing about the Jane is its staff. They are friendly and helpful and nice. The hotel no longer has access to the common areas which is a shame since the rooms are very small and having a place to go to and be social and more comfortable, feels particularly important for this one. |My next door neighbor was smoking, I could smell the cigarettes out in the hallway. |Some of the guests seem to be long term residents, so the vibe is not really there if you want to feel like a travelers amongst fellow adventurers in the big city.
Positive: Location and ease of checkin. Negative: Shower cleanliness.
Disappointing and Misleading... I booked The Jane Hotel largely because of its history and the unique amenities advertised on its website. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect what is being marketed. Upon arrival, the first room I was given was unbearably hot—close to 100 degrees, in the middle of winter. When I asked housekeeping how to turn off the heater, I was told to simply open the window and turn on the air conditioning. Running the heater and AC simultaneously seemed like an unreasonable solution, and to make matters worse, the AC unit in that room didn’t work at all. I went to the front desk to report the issue and also asked where the bar was so my friend and I could grab a drink. I was then informed that none of the bar, lounge, or rooftop amenities are available anymore
