The Grand Hotel at the Grand Canyon

My husband and I booked this hotel on a last minute decision to visit the Grand Canyon. The hotel mentioned that there was an area that was undergoing some reservations, so I was hesitant to book, but did and requested not to be near the repair work. From the get-go, this was an outstanding experience. We visited in December and upon walking in, the lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas. There's also a little shop of souvenirs and traveler items, which was great as my husband needed tylenol. We were able to check in a little early. Our room was a sufficient size, had a very comfortable king bed, and a well-appointed bathroom with nice soaps, shampoos, and conditioner. It was very clean and a comfortable temperature. We were on a road trip in the area and we found this hotel to be one of the best of the trip. It had a nice festive feeling and nice lobby and bar area. There area itself does;t have many dining options. The room was a bit old school but large and comfortable. Staff were all really nice. Would stay again.

Positive: Rooms were nice. Negative: The bar & restaurant service was not good. We waited for over 15 minutes at The Saloon before leaving because no one came to serve us. We then went next door to The Steakhouse & were told they were booked up all night at 5:30PM? Limited Staffing.

Our room was clean and free of bed bugs or any other issues. The dog crate is lovely and has two stainless steel dishes included. (Dogs must be crated if left alone in the room, per hotel policy) The food here is delicious. Dinner service was fantastic and if I could recommend one dish, it's the tachos (and get some guacamole and Calabria chilis while you're at it!) it's enough "appetizer" to feed a family of 4 or bring home and finish later if you think it will survive the trip. It reheats divinely in the air fryer at home. I would like to draw attention to the 4 star service rating. This pertains only to the breakfast service (served in a different spot than dinner, just a heads-up). Our 3 night stay at The Grand was not quite what we expected. Upon entering our room the first night, we noted hair in the tub, a dark red stain on the carpet next to the bed, the toilet did not flush, and the tile floor was dirty. Additionally, we did not know the hotel was under renovation so we woke up to construction noises bright and early. Fortunately, customer service we good and we were able to get a full refund before moving to a different hotel across the street.
