Customer Reviews
This stay was overall a good stay! Kachina lodge canyon view room was average. The view was perfect and the bed was comfortable, but the water was very hard and the TV is very dated. If you don’t mind showering with very hard water and don’t care to watch TV, this is the perfect lodge for you. Minus the TV, limit to 2 people on WiFi, and very hard water, this place was absolutely beautiful and has tons of things to do for guests. The hike paths and rim trail were easily accessible from the lodge. The workers were all very friendly, nice, positive, and genuinely seemed like they cared about you and your experience. The food isn’t 5 stars, but that’s not what the experience is about. We really enjoyed the views, trails, accessibility, cleanliness, and attentiveness from staff.
Fabulous place to stay. It's a little dated, but I kind of liked that. And the location couldn't be better. We had a partial canyon view room on the second floor and wow - it was so close to the edge! I think the closest of all the lodging options there. The bed was pretty comfy. The shower had plenty of hot water. We were there last thing at night to watch sun set, and first thing in the morning for sunrise when we wandered outside to watch it meters from the door. It started snowing just after that but we could retreat into the warmth of our room to wait it out. It was definitely worth the money for us.
Phenomenal location in the heart of Grand Canyon village. We were here during slow season and got a really good deal on a canyon view room! However the location is the only reason to book. It is clean but very basic, bathroom is tiny, and our room had kind of an old musty smell. This might not bother some people but I am cursed with being sensitive to smells! Without the location and view I would give 3 stars.
Very dated room. We were there in the winter and room was windy (!) inside. Showerhead too low for any person with normal height. Room was smelly (humid/ old). No real possibility to eat breakfast anywhere. Hotel was only reservation (and full) and next best place was 10 min by car away, so we got some breakfast in the general store.
Ideal location for all grand canyon activities and shuttles. It's no El Tovar fancy but humbly it's all you really need if you spent all your time outside and just are in the room to wind down and go to bed. It's straight to the point, quiet and comfortable. I didn't experience or come across any staff besides check in at El Tovar, so I can't say much on that. Rooms are basic and a bit outdated, dusty curtains but overall pretty clean with a nice view especially early in the mornings.
