The Garrison Hotel & Suites Dover-Portsmouth, Ascend Hotel Collection

I love this property. The people are very nice, it’s cozy and comfortable and really nicely decorated from the fire pit and bird houses outside to the fireplace and choice of seating areas inside. Going during the holiday season is an extra treat as it is beautifully decorated with Christmas carols greeting you at the door upon arrival. Not only that, there are little personal touches throughout, a coffee/tea station available all day, fresh popped popcorn in the afternoon and a good breakfast with a very cool pancake machine. Within the room there was the nice smelling shampoo and lotion but also toothbrushes and toothpaste. I’ve never seen that without having to ask. The room was spacious and comfortable with a strong shower.

Garrison Hotel, Dover NH|Visiting a sibling and her family during the December 2025 holiday season, I booked a room at the Garrison Hotel & Suites Dover-Portsmouth, an Ascend Collection Hotel in the Choice group of hotels (Room: $110; Taxes and other charges: $9.93). This will be my fifth stay at the Garrison, which I have selected because of its close location to my sister’s family home in Dover.||The hotel has consistently proved to be a good choice. The room was clean, well-furnished, and quiet throughout my stay. The front staff members were alert, helpful, and easy to understand. The Garrison hotel was the perfect location to utilize to ride out the blizzard. They offer complimentary coffee/popcorn/ breakfast and even provide amenities in the room that other hotels in the area don't provide (like toothbrushes!) reasonably priced and conveniently located. I will be utilizing this hotel more often! The staff are very friendly and my room was very clean.

My husband and I stayed here with our dog, for an entire week and could not have been more cozy and happy! There were so many details added to all areas especially the lobby that helped make us feel as if we were at home! We really appreciated all the happy holiday decorations! Every staff member was pleasant and helpful! The room was clean and our nights were quiet and restful! We will definitely return! Thank you!!

This Hotel is fabulous. The room was immaculate, every staff member was friendly and helpful, including one of the first floor room staff who saw me carrying breakfast to the elevator to bring to my husband , and actually helped carry it, opened the elevator and pushed the floor button for me. ( I didn’t have a lot of cash left when leaving but did give her a few $.) The free breakfast was wonderful… the best scrambled eggs I’ve had in a long time. The holiday decorations were amazing, throughout the building and even outside. And of course the very reasonable cost made our stay affordable on a fixed income.
