The Dylan Hotel at SFO

Good: 1. Good location. Close to food and airport 2. Amazing shower. Like a waterfall 3. Clean Bad: 1. Paper thin walls. You will hear every bump in the night. Noisy during the day too 2. Advertised and booked a QUEEN sized bed and the bed in our room was Full sized 3. No microwave in room 4. No refrigerator in room (I honestly didn’t notice this when I booked, but this alone would make me book elsewhere in the future) 5. No complementary breakfast of any kind. Free coffee machine though. This hotel would be fine to stay in for a night if you’re in a pinch. If you’re visiting for more than a night, stay elsewhere. I stayed two nights and by the second I was fed up from poor sleep and no way to store leftover food.

We initially booked for the first night of our 5 night stay. This is a renovated Howard Johnson motel. We found the rate very reasonable. There are a variety of restaurants, stores (grocery and drugstores), and public transportation nearby. I found the rooms comfortable, quiet, and modern looking. After checking in, we extended our stay for the full trip. We had a rental car, so the location was actually convenient to get into and out of the areas we wanted to visit. I liked the type of coffee pods supplied in the room. We used the water bottles while we stayed. They offer those for personal use at no charge. I liked that. Filtered water is in the lobby area to fill up before leaving. 5 minute walk to the train station, which we took to the San Jose soccer match made it feel like we were s

Works in a pinch for a place to stay for a layover or if you are priced out of staying in SF. Beds and pillows are comfortable. However the AC unit was one of the noisiest I’ve heard in a long time, so the trade off is no AC and the room quickly gets hot and stuffy or turn it on and you can’t sleep because of how loud it was. Room was very dark with odd lighting, and I caught four different flies in the room, which was very off putting. ||They’ve added a few cosmetic things to look good for the photos like a record player and some trendy finishings in the lobby, but this is just a dressed up motel so you shouldn’t expect more than that.

This hotel is just okay. The location is pretty good. It’s in a nicer, fairly safe part of town near SFO. The amenities are decent but nothing to write home about. Service, however, is lacking. The lady at the front desk was quite dismissive.

Hotel rooms are good, clean, and affordable. The rooms are nothing special. The customer service on the other hand is amazing. I came back to the hotel at 1 am and my phone was dead. I asked if they sold iPhone lightning cables but they did not. George at the front desk actually let me charge my phone with his personal charger. When I brought it back to him, he actually went out and searched for me a charger to use. Would give the hotel a 4/5 stars but George makes it a 5/5 star experience.
