The Dakota

We had reservations for over a week. We drove many miles for an enjoyable experience. No knowledge that the pool was closed. No one at the front desk. When we notified the desk attendant by phone. It was 5 minutes later when she showed up. Appearance and behavior was so upsetting. We asked for a refund. She said that's easy then proceeded to tell us to call someone else to cancel. If others are paying attention. Ramadas people had smiles. Dressed to impress and we're helpful even though they were almost full. Supposed to be considered hospitality. Signed Karen with a reason

Positive: "" Negative: Hotel was just ok, floors didn’t seem very clean and hallways didn’t look to be swept in weeks. Room had a funky smell that seemed to be covered up with an air freshener that was very overpowering

Very dirty stained carpet in room and not vacuumed, got dirt and crumbs on feet had to wipe feet off before got in bed. Black bits on the bed when pulled covers back. Was not told that the pool was closed until after we paid and got our keys. The main reason we picked hotel is to use the water slide. Holes in the wall, old furniture, the bathroom door had a hole in it where someone had punched it.

I would not recommend staying here. The room we were given was dirty and clearly not cleaned properly before our arrival. The sink would back flow overtime you ran the water. We had to brush our teeth with a water bottle. To make matters worse, there was obvious drug dealing and shady activity going on outside at night, which made us feel unsafe. People were leaving the back door of the hotel propped open. We had the room at the very end next to the door as could here all this activity go on ALL NIGHT LONG. We ended up leaving the room at 1am and driving to a safe place to sleep in our car. The pool was also closed and under construction—a major amenity we expected to use and that was never disclosed at booking. Check-in was also unpleasant; the staff seemed disorganized. I stayed at the Dakota on Friday night November 7th. The only room available was double queen beds but it was a busy weekend so it was fine. Saturday, I get a call from the manager stating that a picture was missing from the bathroom according to housekeeping. I adamantly denied the theft and the manager said they didn't believe I stole it either but the owners wanted me charged for the picture.I have never been accused of something so ridiculous. I have stayed at this hotel multiple times over the last 5 years with no problem. Needless to say but I will no longer be a guest there. My only advice would be to take before and after pictures of your stay.
