The Connally Hotel Downtown Atlanta

Location is NOT GREAT pay a little more and stay in an area a little nicer that’s safer. The hotel was always full of homeless people hanging out outside begging for money and watching you and as a mom traveling alone with a 17 month old I didn’t feel comfortable walking outside the hotel at all. Parking at the hotel is $55 a night which is outrageous - I’ve stayed at much nicer hotels that didn’t charge such a crazy amount for parking. There’s a parking garage across the street that charges $30 for parking and I parked the car there one night but walking there and back I wasn’t comfortable doing after the first day because the area is really not great. The front desk was very helpful and accommodating. We had two rooms and had to change one because the original room smelled of smoke. The area around the hotel had a lot of homeless and I felt I needed to be cautious. The hotel staff does a good job keeping it safe at the front lobby and the valet was very professional. It was easy to pull up for valet. The bathtub faucet did leak so we kept the bathroom door closed to avoid the noise. Shirley in the breakfast room was very welcoming. She kept the area well stocked and clean. It was an easy walk to Mercedes Benz Stadium. I would just make sure you are walking in a group and not by yourself.

The valet parking is a little confusing because it's in such a small area but the employees are great. Everyone we talked to at the counter was friendly and helpful. Our room was giant and the AC was working beautifully. Was able to walk to our concert, I would absolutely stay at this property again. Breakfast was large and delicious!

The hotel is located in Downtown Atlanta, and it's 15 minutes walking distance from the Centennial Park, World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium. The Georgia Stste University is also within walking distance. The King size room was very cozy, complimentary breakfast had the regular offers, not bad. Staff was friendly. The cons of this hotel: It's located close to the Atlanta Recovery Center, so there are a lot of funny characters walking about which can be quite concerning. There is also a lounge, Utopia within 50 feet away. They stay open till late with loud music that could disturb your sleep.

TLDR: The hotel is not worth the price. Pay a little more for a nicer place. Pros - Interactions with staff were pleasant - Location was desirable for my visit - It felt reasonably secure with diligence. - Quite a bit of well done graffiti art in the immediate vicinity. Cons - Continental breakfast was incredibly sparse and mostly microwaved or prepackaged products. The only eggs were cold hard boiled eggs or part of the jimmy dean microwave sandwiches (which were only available one out of three times). The oatmeal was cold and was solidifying in the vat. The cup of orange juice I poured for myself had multiple fruit flies floating in it. Sealed yogurts and waffle maker were a highlight. - The king bed had a queen sized top sheet instead of a fitted sheet and I found myself waking up o
