The Chelsean New York Hotel

Location is unbeatable—right in vibrant Chelsea on 25th St, steps from Flatiron Building, Madison Square Park, great eats, shopping, and subway lines (1/2/3/F/M at 23rd St). Super walkable to Penn Station, Empire State, and more—perfect NYC base. Rooms were clean and comfortable with good beds, but small (classic Manhattan) and a bit basic—no wow factor, though functional. Service was strong—friendly, attentive front desk staff made check-in smooth and helped with tips. Good value for the prime spot—would stay again for the location and staff! 4 stars.

We stayed here for three days to be in close proximity to NYC & we were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The rooms are quiet and we were placed on the 14th floor with a really nice view of the city. The rooms are a little dated and could definitely use a refresh as well as better cleaning as far as a few things being on the floor that were not from us. However, the beds were comfortable and clean as well as the bathroom & shower. The toilet did leak out the back slightly when flushed, but it was not a big issue, and I think it goes back to the hotel being slightly dated. I did like how our room was refreshed each time we left and came back!

I am writing on behalf of my cousin, who stayed at Chelsea’s NY Hotel with his wife and children from October 15 to 21, 2025. I assisted with communication because, while he speaks conversational English, he was not comfortable handling complex service issues or negotiations in a second language.||During the stay, the family was required to move rooms multiple times due to recurring problems:||Room 202: The room had a persistent odor originating from the PTAC air unit. Staff initially assured us it would fade within a few hours, but it lasted throughout the night. Management later stated that the unit was “not defective,” yet the red change-filter light was illuminated — visible in photos — indicating the filter required servicing. I recently stayed at the Chelsean Hotel in New York City, and I must say, it was a disappointing experience. For $700 a night, I expected much better accommodations. Unfortunately, the hotel had a strong, unpleasant odor throughout our stay, which made it hard to enjoy the room. The condition of the room was appalling. It honestly felt like it should have been condemned years ago. The chairs had ripped cushions, and the furniture was falling apart. Additionally, I noticed several holes in the walls that just added to the overall neglected appearance of the place. To make matters worse, upon check-out, we were told to wait 30 minutes for our car. We saw a car downstairs within 10 minutes that we knew wasn't ours, but we had to wait.
