The Charles Hotel

Twenty minute weekend car ride from Boston Logan, a very comfortable modern room. Walkable to many of the varying cuisine walkable restaurants around Harvard Square. Doorman, friendly and numerous check-in staff. High threadcount sheets and very comfortable mattress in a quiet room. Pricey, but worth it for a splurge.

My first time at the Charles was great! The hotel is in the perfect proximity to restaurants and stores in Harvard Square. The staff was exceedingly excellent and professional. My room was clean, comfortable, and inviting. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Cambridge.

This is a very reliable hotel. Although rooms are not particularly special in terms of their hard products, they do a great job adding a sophisticated touch. Also, food at Henrietta’s table is very delicious with a lot of local ingredients used.

We had high expectations for this hotel, but our experience was disappointing from the start. Although the front desk staff maintained a polite tone, their manner felt distant and snobbish, which immediately gave us the impression that we were not the type of guests they prioritize. At check-in, no one requested an Amex card for incidentals. Yet the following morning, we received a letter slipped under our door stating that we “must” use an Amex card to receive FHR benefits. After confirming directly with Amex, this is not accurate—the benefits apply as long as the booking is prepaid on Amex Travel with an eligible card. My king-bed room was spacious and bright and cheerful, the bed was very comfortable, and the location is great for anything going on at Harvard. Everything was very clean, although in my room I encountered the (common) problem that the shower drain needed cleaning. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The room service food was expensive as is always the case at hotels, but at least it was very good! I caught the flu while I was there and they whipped up an amazing chicken soup. The heating in the room was a little annoying--it wouldn't get warm unless you really cranked it up, and then it would get too warm. I managed it, but the staff responsible for the AC/heating should try to work on that. Wouldn't hesitate to book the hotel again.
