I booked The Carlyle hoping for a bit of that old world New York charm I keep hearing about. The location puts you right where you want to be on the Upper East Side, and the lobby feels intimate rather than cavernous like some of the midtown giants. It really leans into that small boutique hotel energy which I tend to prefer over the massive chains.||The biggest surprise for me was the room size. Anyone who spends time in Manhattan knows you usually have to step over your suitcase to get to the bathroom, but here I actually had floor space to spare. It felt spacious and properly upscale. The staff were solid too. They were friendly and quick to help when I needed extra towels, managing to be attentive without being annoying.||I have to be honest about the value though. It is steep. What an amazing experience! We wanted to experience a nice cocktail at the Bemelmans bar and we happened to arrive on an evening where they had artists in residence, and the bar was closed to patrons not staying in the hotel. However, Dante was amazing! Not only did he take the time to explain the circumstances, but gave us a brief history of the hotel, the hand painting by author , Ludwig Bemelman. Our time with him was a highlight of our trip and what a great experience he created for us despite being able to enjoy the bar that evening. It only motivates us more to stay there on our next visit. Thank you, Dante for an amazing introduction to the Carlyle and leaving a lasting impression on us. We loved our champagne the next day before our departure. Cheers to amazing service and a p
Absolutely wonderful stay! I stayed for only one night duirng what appeared to be the coldest week of the year in New York, the staff at this hotel could not be warmer. They very generously gave me a complimentary upgrade to a suite that was absolutely marvelous. Beautiful furniture, plenty of space, a bed that was a bit lower to the ground (which I loved), and one of the best showers I've ever experienced in a New York hotel! I am not someone who stays at these types of hotels very often, so this special "treat myself" stay became even more special! I will surely be back and would recommend this to anybody looking to indulge in luxury while in New York.
It’s a really great hotel with excellent service and fabulous location. Room is big and comfortable. Breakfast is delicious.
Our experience here was beyond explainable. The hotel it's self was beautiful! I have to eat gluten free and they had excellent gluten free options. My daughter doesn't have to eat gluten free and her food looked also looked delicious. While we were there, their was an illustrator drawing pictures of every group having tea. Her illustrations made are day and are precious. Our server and server captain was very attentive and polite checking on us daily, asking how the food was. Tea at the Carlyle was a magical experience and I recommend this.
