The Block Hotel & Commons

We came out from North Carolina for a seven day snowboarding trip and stayed at The Block, it was absolutely perfect for us. The 4 bunk room is pretty tight, but the price is so reasonable. It’s a very comfortable modern building, beautifully designed with lots of places to hang out, places to socialize if you wish, even a full bar. The shared kitchen is suitable for anything you would like to cook, with room in the refrigerator and freezer for your things. Honestly, this is an upscale hostel and don’t we wish they were all as nice as this one.

Always an excellent stay and great value for the shared bunks. The private rooms are very nice as well. Within easy walking distance to a variety of food options and about half a mile from the transport depot for buses. The only minor complaint is the shared bunk rooms are often very warm, you almost don't even need the blanket. They have many events throughout the month in the main lobby that are enjoyable.

What an awesome spot. The location is great as are the vibes.the staff is phenomenal. The bartenders Dwayne and Rob are great, but I would like to particularly call out Chelsea who has gone above and beyond to accommodate me in my party. When we had unexpected mountain adventures, she did everything to make sure that we were taken care of and comfortable. If I could leave 100 star review I would.

The room was 88 degrees when I arrived. Never got below 80 even after adjusting the room temp.🥵 There was laminate throughout all the common areas and sink area of the bathroom. But once you entered into the gender specific bathroom/shower area, they used what looked like peel and stick carpet in and around the toilet and urinals as well as the area leading up to the showers. Tile can at least be cleaned and sanitized. Especially around the toilets and urinals! You can see staining on some of the carpet squares. Great place for mold!!🤢😷

This was such a cool find for a weekend night stay to commute snowboarding from Denver, peak season under $100. Clean rooms and bathrooms, friendly staff, well-equipped kitchen (like not just a microwave but a full stove), hot tub, comfortable bunk beds with shelves to place small belongings, easy vibes. Nice home base for mountaineers and travelers. Things to be aware of that bothered me personally but don’t think warrant star rating reductions and your mileage will definitely vary: 1. If you’re a sensitive sleeper, shared rooms could be hit or miss. Patrons are super respectful but there’s just no avoiding closing doors, rustling, bumping, snoring. I think that’ll be true of any shared space anywhere. 2. If you sleep hot, the room does start off very warm. Cooled down a little later but
