The Baxa Inn

My friends and I stayed here for WVWC Homecoming in ‘24 and ‘25. Last year, one of my friends got bed bug bites and they were everywhere. He informed the staff who apologized profusely. He had to leave a day early due to the severity of the reaction he had. This year, two of my friends got them. The bites were huge and became like welts. We informed both the staff and the health department. We were informed that there is a severe outbreak of them in the entire town! We won’t be going there again. I strongly urge great caution if you choose to stay there.

Nice and cozy rooms, homey feel. Very quiet the whole night. It felt pretty secure despite the door being a little hard to open/close. It would be nice if they had blackout curtains to help keep some light out at night / extra privacy. The bed, blankets and pillows were very soft and comfortable. The shower was super strong and had great temperature too. Cold breakfast offered but they also had oatmeal and a toaster for bagels and muffins. Staff was very friendly and felt authentic. Very central location very walkable neighborhood. I would stay here again!

I stayed at the Baxa during a return visit to Buckhannon and Wesleyan. The motel was clean, comfortable, quiet, convenient and safe. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I recommend the Baxa for a comfortable, convenient stay in Buckhannon.

This is a difficult review to write, because on one level, this property has some truly admirable characteristics. It’s a classic old-school, mom-and-pop "roadside motel/inn"—the kind that once offered a simple, quiet, and inexpensive overnight stay for travelers looking to avoid big hotel chains. As other reviewers have noted, the room itself was exceptionally clean and tidy. The housekeeping was meticulous, and it’s clear that the physical upkeep of the rooms is taken seriously by the owner. That said, the motel is no longer functioning as a traditional travel stop, and travelers should be aware of what they’re walking into. During our stay, it appeared that most (if not all) of the other rooms were occupied by long-term residents—likely individuals or families who are in difficult life

My son is a student at WVWC. I love the Baxa. It is clean. Small. So cute. Best hotel bed I have ever slept in. Cute little patio where I could work outside. Went out of their way to get me a extension cord to charge. As a female solo traveler felt super safe.
