The Baseball Hotel

Historical old inn off the beaten path. The hotel is very interesting. Room was small and quaint, with a spacious, modern bathroom. Bed was very comfortable. No breakfast served, but hot coffee is available for guests

The baseball hotel is a place to sleep. To check in, you call a number on the desk and then they give you a room number. You find your room and there is a key hanging on the door outside. It's just like a regular key. There are no additional locks on the inside of the room. The rooms were clean but we're shabby/rustic with a musty smell and a lot of 🍃(I get it's hard to control the actions of others but the smell is something else). There are not common amenities, like TVs, irons, or lighting. I am mildly skeptical of the water because it tastes stale and is kinda rust colored. however, there was a window AC unit. In my room, the bathroom door didn't really close but that's fine I guess. Since the rooms are so small, there is no seating area but there are a number of small lobbies/lounges

This hotel was one of the worst. The outside was not kept and the building behind it looks like it is condemned. No one was at the front desk. You call a number and they tell you to go to a room and the key is on a hook outside. The hallway is cramped, with a runner that isn't secure and bunches up as you walk and roll your suitcase down the hallway. The addition of the church pews makes it unnecessarily crowded. Who's sitting in the hallway having conversations? The hotel also smells of must and mildew because it is not well ventilated. The room had two double beds and no room to walk around, let alone put your suitcases. the air conditioner blows directly on one of the bed. Only 20 minutes to the Baseball Hall of Fame with one red light. Mattress and box spring have been updated and provided an excellent nights sleep. We had a pet and could not beat the price and found this hotel on our way to Cooperstown. We did have to change the batteries on the remote but they had them available. This was a great find in a quiet area, very nice staff and close to stores, restaurants and points of interest. Thank you for all the memories!

This one-star review is not because the room was not clean. They actually were clean rooms. I just don't think the staff has much to work with. The website said they serve a continental breakfast. They didn't even have continental coffee. The rooms had no hair dryer, no iron or ironing board, no coffee pot, no microwave, or refrigerator. The showers were so tiny that you barely could fit in them. They are like camper showers. For $159 a night. I definitely would have driven the 20 minutes back out for a nice room. I was going off of pictures on the website. It looked like they served a nice breakfast. And the rooms were very nice, very, very deceiving.
