The Abbey Hotel Miami Beach Sonder

This hotel is a bare bones operation. My room was large, well lit and clean. They are not full service and checkin is late. It also has a good location. The common areas need a refresher and some of the bathroom furniture too (see photos). I found it clean and efficient. No keys. All codes and your Sonder App. Bare bones staff and no amenities. You need to resupply your room and there is no restaurant. Only Keurig Coffee and basic tea. No local or cable television channels. The Samsung Smart TV can be hooked up to your phone or Chrocmecast. Price is very competitive and I guess you get what you pay for.

The Abbey Hotel in Miami was clean, neat, and smelled great. The rooms were tidy and comfortable, and the property was well-maintained. However, the parking situation is completely unacceptable. There is no hotel parking, no loading or unloading zone, and no clear signage warning guests that parking directly in front of the hotel will result in being towed. We parked outside for less than 30 minutes to unload our luggage and our car was towed almost immediately. The front desk never mentioned this risk, and the nearest parking garage is several blocks away. This hotel absolutely needs to install clear signs and warn guests at check-in not to leave their cars unattended, even for a few minutes. My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. The front desk staff was helpful. The room was very spacious. The bathroom was beautiful. The walls are thin but we were able to sleep through the night without excessive noise. Only downside is that they don’t offer beach chairs or umbrellas. If I were to go to Miami again, I would stay closer to downtown only because we spent a good amount of money on rides over there. If you’re looking to be close to the beach, definitely stay here. Very affordable!

The room was dirty including the sheets. The were loud party goers upstairs who made so much noise it was difficult to sleep. We contacted services, but they didn't resolve the loud noise that they claimed they did. The gentleman running the desk the next morning was nice and offered to stow our luggage while we went to brunch. We won't be back I don't think in the future.

My experience with Sonder was fantastic...traveling from Toronto to Miami, Julian gave me that southern hospitality- recommending dining establishments that were within my budget...making sure I was comfortable in my room, and letting me know what were the safest areas to walk around alone at night during the hot Miami nights.
