SureStay by Best Western Brunswick

We were heading to Florida from Ohio and needed a late night place to stay. I booked a room here just to sleep and get on the road. Granted, I only paid $72 and I figured “how bad can it be, it’s got the Best Western name in its name?” Turns out it can be really bad. There was a large amount of dried drippings on one wall, black grime behind the toilet, a large hole in the shower ceiling with grocery bags stuck in it and, I kid you not, cobwebs from one of the headboards to the wall behind it. The headboard itself was covered in sticky dust. The towels were almost see through and the outlet by the sink and coffee maker was nonfunctional. Owner tried kicking us out and falsely accusing us of smoking weed at his hotel. The reason why he assumed this is because I'm a recovered addict and when I stay in a hotel I cover up all of the blinking red lights at night so that I can sleep because I am diagnosed with severe paranoia. So I think that the lights flashing cameras trying to watch me sleep so I cover them up at every hotel that I go to so that I can peacefully sleep at night without my paranoia kicking in and keeping me up all night. Apparently he said that a code was triggered by them being covered so they went into our room while we were gone the next morning and found washcloths over the the lights and assumed we were smoking marijuana. Location and service. Let me comment on the service. The housekeeper took a personal interest in my needs. Full marks to her. The front desk impressed me with recognition. Again, full marks. I got a quiet, restful sleep. I will be back. As for the breakfast, well, no comment.

Positive: Nothing Negative: The tv didn?t work and the pool was out of order. Had to spend money going to the movie theater bc we didn?t have tv, nor were we able to enjoy the pool. Very disappointed.

It was nice to be able to check in a few hours early before normal check-in hours since we were on the road driving for so long and traveling through this town. It cost and extra $20 to do so. But worth it. The room did have an issue with super tiny ants at the sink area and in the bathroom. We also found 1 tiny "bug" on the nightstand. So I hope they will get some sort of exterminator in there since the bug was a baby palmetto bug. Otherwise, the bed was clean and comfortable and we appreciated being able to get some rest before traveling another 10 hours the next day.
