Super 8 by Wyndham Michigan City

This hotel randomly asked for a cash deposit when their check in policy on the Priceline states credit card for the deposit (I don’t carry cash), then wouldn’t let me check in and tried to deny a cancellation request after they didn’t follow their own policy. This is a really scummy tactic to try to steal from customers without ever providing a room. I wouldn’t recommend here at all. I travel 300 days a year and have never encountered this before in the past.

This hotel over books their rooms!! We traveled 4 hours just to be told "sorry we had to cancel your stay, the other people in the room decided to stay" absolutely RIDICULOUS and so unprofessional!!! We couldn't even get another room close and had to drive 4 HOURS BACK HOME BECAUSE OF THIS HOTEL. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM!! and the guy that was at the front desk thought he could just threaten the cops when all we wanted was a refund THAT HE REFUSED until we called booking!! Booking was very unhappy with them and did not realize that they OVER BOOK rooms!!!! Such a hassle and they could have just told THE OTHER PEOPLE the room was already PAID FOR AND TAKEN FOR THE NIGHT. but they put us out of our room WITHOUT TELLING US. They knew the room was taken at 11am and didn't inform us until WE ARRIV

When we first walked in, we were greeted by the smell of rotten seafood or similar. The smell almost knocked you off your feet.|For a family of four, we only received three towels.|When I asked for more towels, I was informed only the housekeeper had a key to the linen room, and the front desk was unable to provide fresh towels. Thankfully, there was a Walmart not too far away, so I bought some towels. I understand that in the Wyndham family of hotels, the Super 8 is not the flagship. However, I do believe the hotel shouldn’t stink and the front desk should be able to provide fresh towels. Also, they have a sign up, saying if you stay more than one day, housekeeping, only cleans every other day. We should’ve just left, and dealt with the cancellation fees.

If you have to check out early, the owner will refuse to refund and keep your money. I had to change locations due to my job so I had to check out 3 days early. I let the front desk know, this is a very typical thing that happens so it shouldn’t have been an issue. Very rude and disrespectful to deal with after speaking to him personally. He stole over $400 from me. Not in a good area either. I’ve tried to spread awareness of this issue, but he just deletes my review, so beware. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Would definitely recommend booking elsewhere that doesn’t have a desperate, pathetic, money hungry, unethical, and moral lacking owner.
