Super 8 by Wyndham Bedford

Lady at the desk was very nice. The room and bathroom were dirty. The smell of cigarettes' is strong nearly everywhere. Saw a Roach on the ceiling. Tile flooring is odd for a hotel room. Too dirty to feel comfortable. Still the best choice if in Bedford, the other two hotels looked worse.

Basic but clean. Carpet had been removed, and replaced with LVP flooring. The building is very cheap construction, so walls are thin. The neighbor's phone alarm went off at 0700 and it sounded like it was right next to my head. Two light bulbs were out, and the TV quality was very poor, but we were just crashing for the night, so I didn't complain. As noted by others, there is NO elevator, and we were not advised of this in advance so schlepping luggage up the stairs was tough for us old folks. No assistance was offered. Free breakfast was basic, but ok. A waffle maker, bagels, bread, cold cereals and yogurt. Wanted a coffee for the road, but breakfast area was secured promptly at 10 am. For the price it's fine. Don't expect a lot of bells and whistles. MOST IMPORTANTLY: If you travel with a lot of luggage, book your room on the ground floor, because there is no elevator.

PRO: Staff at Super 8 Bedford was very nice, polite. Desk service was great. Rooms seem clean as possible given age of materials. CON: same bed cover for many many years, pictures behind head boards are getting very old to see. Carpet needs replacing. New refrigerator is nice but needs to be fastened down, opening door, refrigerator comes towards beds. Microwave door handle broken. BIG CON: allowing people in smoking rooms to smoke MARIJUANA.. in VA. Not allowed to smoke in public places. Very unpleasant order in entire hotel. It’s the law, please Inforce it. 4.1-1108.
