Stonebrook Lodge

My husband and I were pleased with our recent stay. We were in the area for the birth of my first grandchild. At check-in, the front desk agent congratulated us and was the first to call me Grandma! The lodge is nicely decorated for the holidays and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The room was clean and had all the necessary amenities including a refrigerator and microwave. Breakfast is limited continental, but does include a Belgian waffle maker. Fresh fruit and additional options would have been nice. We were impressed by the breakfast host, Hannah. She is friendly and attentive. We will definitely return to Stonebrook Lodge for future stays in the area.

Terrible Experience – Unprofessional Business Practices I travel a lot and this tops the worst experience I have ever had with lodging. I regret I am unable to give Stonebrook Lodge zero stars due to their extremely unprofessional behavior related to our stay. My husband and I decided to schedule a Valentine weekend getaway that included a stay with Stonebrook in Bryson City, NC. We rented the jacuzzi King suite and upon arrival, I immediately noticed the jacuzzi jets were filthy. (photos attached) In the jets, you could see black mold and mildew. It was disgusting. Since we arrived so late, I notified the attendant on duty (Eloisa) the next morning and while she apologized and stated she would have this taken care of, it was a poor attempt to clean it, and it was still dirty.

Overall, the facility is beautiful and we'll appointed. They have an expanded continental breakfast, but it is sadly lacking any protein options at all. The attendant was wonderful, however, and as friendly as anyone could be. My biggest issue was with the smell in my room. It smelled dank, like it had been wet and not dried properly. It even came home in my robe. I should have asked for another room but did not, so that one is on me. This is a great place for sitting outdoors and watching sunsets and sunrises.

Positive: Newness Negative: Continental breakfast was very disappointing. Missing any type of egg and meat that I was hoping to find.

This place was great when it first opened, but has gotten really smelly over time. We have stayed here 2-3 times per year and it's noticeably worse each visit. And it seems it doesn't matter what room or floor we are on. There is definitely a moisture issue. It literally feels damp, sheets feel damp carpet feels damp. This stay we were greeted with a bug when we first entered the room too. The staff on the otherhand are amazing and helpful. Breakfast is ok. I wish they'd get a handle on the moisture issues.
