It's a pretty decent shelter, and a nice location for camping. It sometimes has some trash but nothing major--some plastic bottles, etc. I've only slept in the shelter once or twice, and prefer to tent just north of the shelter on the ridge, which has a nice western view. There are several flat areas for tenting north of the shelter along the trail as well as south and below the shelter (after the short descent on the trail). One time during a summer evening on an overnight there, I went about 50 ft behind the shelter to relieve myself, and walked into what seemed like an enchanted forest. There were fireflies filling the air everywhere. It probably was mating season, and hot spot for that. Not sure if it was just a one off, or if it happens seasonally there, but worth checking out if you
