Sparrows Lodge

Sparrows Lodge is the platonic ideal of a boutique hotel. Rustic rooms with big windows, the scent of rosemary everywhere you turn, a gently burbling water feature audible from any square foot of the property--these are all lovely. But it's the staff that makes this place special. They genuinely care whether or not you are having a good time. Old-school, detail-driven hospitality is dead in many places, but not at Sparrows Lodge. The breakfast is beautiful (they serve a salad! At breakfast! I could weep!), and the garden is the perfect place to enjoy a late-night drink. It's hard--actually hard--to find a place that feels worthy of completely unplugging from work, from Apple News alerts, from Instagram. This is it. We enjoyed one night for my birthday. We had dinner under the arbor outside and it was wonderful! The fire pit area and the many sitting areas was a treat. We enjoyed the breakfast in the morning ( yogurt, boiled eggs, banana bread, toasted bagels, fruit, tea and coffee and juice). We swam in the heated pool in the morning then took the hotel bikes for a spin behind the lodge and enjoyed the mid century homes! A part had been ordered for the outside hot tub but the tub in our room was big so we didn’t mind!Great stay! Can’t wait to return.

We were so fortunate to find this place thanks to dear friends. It helped me (an east coaster who had only been once before) to finally understand the lure of Palm Springs. Every detail was thoughtful and warmly executed. Great pool, lovely private and shared spaces, delicious food and drinks. The rooms were just phenomenal. I especially loved the great big shower and our own private hammock. It's a splurge, but if you are up for this price point, you won't be sorry with the choice. We hope to be back to Sparrows for sure.

Photos don’t do this place justice! This hotel felt way more luxe than I expected, leaning more towards the mid century Palm Springs vibe vs. the kitschy. Some highlights: welcome drinks, pool and jacuzzi open late, views of the mountains from the pool, s’mores kits to use by the fire at night, comfortable bed, delicious dinner at the hotel restaurant with great ambiance, simple breakfast with all the essentials (English muffins, fruit, yogurt + granola), close to main part of town. I’d definitely stay here again and would recommend it.

Sparrow's Lodge is a perfect place for a get-away: the pool, the firepits, the staff and the rooms - all terrific. We stayed in a very comfortable room with small, private garden seating in the back. Our mornings were our favorite times: delicious continental breakfast offerings in the Barn to take out to a couch on the main patio and enjoy the sunrise. Don't miss dinner at Sparrow's with tables under the trees (inside seating is available): the menu offers a good choice. I had the delicious John Dory and my husband had the lobster with angolotti - also delicious, he said. And the staff is top-notch: friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Looking forward to a return trip sometime!
