Spark by Hilton Homewood Birmingham

Kind of Noisy but wasnt terrible, they however do not honor the free upgrades for being a Diamond member, the breakfast bar was lacking most things, the front desk clerk didnt speak good English, and they step away from the desk for prolonged periods without a sign letting you know that they are away for a few mins like other hotels do. The area it is located seems extremely safe for that market and overall it has potential to be a much better hotel.

This hotel was not what I was expecting out of a Hilton property. The walls were thin and I could hear the TV in the room next to me. The room had no coffee, fridge or amenity that I expect in most hotel rooms. But my biggest complaint was the staff. Unfriendly would be how I'd describe them. When my room key failed, I explained the issue. No apologies, no explanation or anything. He took mine, reset it and then handed it to me without saying a word. During breakfast, the coffee was from overnight and cold. The attendant never said anything - again, no smile, greeting or anything to indicate they appreciated my business. I recently stayed at a Fairfield hotel, and they have a policy of being 100% noise-free after 10:00 pm, or you get fined. If this policy applied to this hotel, I would give it 5 stars! Overall, the hotel is clean, it's been remodeled, and it's good value for the money. But it's incredibly noisy! So, if you're looking to relax and you're a light sleeper, this hotel is not for you.

Pleasantly surprised when our nearby reservation was re-booked to this hotel. It has everything you need, and nothing you don’t. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap and lotion are all from a brand called Zero%, which is without sulfates, parabens, or animal testing, smells luxurious, and works well. Housekeeping is offered every-other day, but we had the perfect amount of housekeeping on our first night—trash and towels only. I’m glad we found this place, as it is new, tidy, and spacious, and would stay here again.

This is one of the worst Hilton hotels I’ve stayed in. The rooms were poorly laid out. The bathroom tub/shower was disgusting. Brown rings and discolored. The toilet sat low to the floor and you could not reach the toilet paper where it was attached under the counter. The staff was not friendly. Being in the hospitality business, you’d think they’d talk to the customers and engage. These people (not Americans) said nothing. I’m not sure they like Americans or something. They barely spoke at all and I believe their knowledge of the English language was minimal. The breakfast was scarce. No eggs, no meat, no pancakes, waffles, etc. Just old bread and packaged muffins. The coffee was terrible. Will not ever recommend a Spark by Hilton to anyone.
