Southern Seas Resort On the Ocean

Stayed with family in this no-frills resort twice in the last 2 years. We have had a great time. Unlike the previous reviewers, we stayed using the Airbnb, so we didn't have to deals with the office or front desk of this resort. Pros: Location. Location. Location. Units are neat, clean and fully functional. Lots of open space with benches and chairs. You can walk to the beach from the units in seconds. Cons: Most are studios, I guess. Can be challenging if you have lot of stuff.

Stay Here No complaint everything was perfect the best experience .Rooms got everything we need very comfortable. Everyone in the office and house keeping very nice. got there room was perfect . My Son got some issues with the air conditioning at his room call management (after 7 pm ) she was at the property in less then 25 minutes .|Right away, upgrade his room and no problem Very professional no complaints at all. We Stayed for 5 days and have a very good experience.

HORRIBLE communication. I arrived for my reservation with three suitcases weighing 150 pounds, but they DON'T have an office, and they DON'T answer the phone, and you CAN'T leave a message because their mailbox is full. I WAS LEFT OUT IN THE POURING RAIN, MY SUITCASES AND I WERE SOAKED! TERRIBLE for a 67 year old woman to have to carry two suitcases and a 50# duffle bag down the street alone in the rain! SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLES AND GO TO TROPIC SEAS, JUST DOWN THE STREET! EMMY WILL TAKE GREAT CARE OF YOU AND THE ROOMS ARE PERFECT!

Right in the beach. Almost no need to drive anywhere, many places within walking distance (great taco place up around the corner!) The resort has gotten a nice little face lift, new paint outside, tree/bush maintenance, new outdoor furniture and new management. The room we stayed in recently had a fresh coat of paint, bathroom upgrade and a new ac unit installed. We also noticed that a few of the other rooms were being remodeled and updated too. There have been some nice changes over the past few years. |Only item of note, if you need/want fresh towels, garbage emptied or the room cleaned, you must take care of it yourself or pay a daily fee to have it done. Maybe someday they will change it back, we enjoyed seeing and talking to our room caretaker everyday :)

To all the Captiva veterans, unfortunately, this place is not what it once was - and I do not mean hurricane damage.||||Golf carts can now be rented on the property! However, the new management/owners are making a push to ONLY allow their carts on the property. Signage everywhere. We used their cart. it locked up on property. Good times.||||Sunset beach! It used to be this vibe right? Taco stands, water sports, frozen drinks... then the sun starts to dip and you get acoustic guitars, the kids instructed to throw shells in the water as the sun fades to make a wish, Yeti cups abundant, everyone sun kissed, just self reflecting as the sun slowly sinks.... ALL GONE. Sunnyside rentals doesnt exist anymore - the shacks are gone. The singer/guitar player gone. Staff leaves long before
