Sonesta Select Camarillo

I recently stayed at Sonesta Camarillo from February 13th–16th (three nights total). I visit this property often when I’m in town with family, and overall the stay was comfortable — clean room, great sleep, and a welcoming atmosphere. I want to recognize JR, who handled a mistake I made with my reservation (I accidentally booked March instead of February). He was patient, accommodating, and solution-oriented. No attitude — just professionalism. Outstanding service. Mark also deserves recognition. I had connectivity issues with my work laptop, and he went above and beyond to ensure I was connected so I could continue working. Truly appreciated. On Sunday morning at 6 a.m., Joon assisted me with extending my stay and reprogramming my key. She was pleasant, patient, and welcoming despite the

Positive: Quiet, great design, ease in registration. Room offered everything we needed. Negative: The bar/Cafe was closed for the month inside this hotel.

Dirty, old, smelly, nasty. Shower did not drain. Stay away, far away. Seating in lobby is stained as well as in the rooms. Only one set of towels. Just gross.

Decent hotel for the price. Had no issues, just needs some TLC with paint and what not. Used the fitness center and it had what was needed to get a decent workout.

Cleanliness was very poor. I would expect a better standard of cleanliness from a budget hotel, much less a hotel like this where they charge +$200 a night. Rooms need to be updated the carpet and wallpaper were just not in an acceptable condition. There was a strong smell of smoke (weed and cigarettes) and a slightly less strong smell of artificial fragrances that were used to cover it up. We noticed multiple spots of visible mold on the walls and ceiling both in the room and bathroom. The carpets had a oily, waxy texture that made walking barefoot in the room unpleasant. Staff was kind and responsive. There were no bugs at least. I would not recommend this hotel, particularly for the price.
