Sonesta ES Suites San Diego - Rancho Bernardo

We stayed here for one night with our pups and absolutely loved it. I’ve never stayed at a Sonesta but their price beat out comparable hotels including their pet fee. I believe most places charge a per night and per pet fee, but their flat fee is good for up to a week for one or two pets. They even gave us a bag of doggie treats. They have a doggie water bowl in the lobby. The staff members were wonderful and kind. The lobby and breakfast area are beautiful. Our room was spacious and quiet. To get the lowest rate we had to provide an email and agree to sign up to their preferred customer list. Worth it! Also asked for AAA rate (which you should always do). Nice breakfast. Great quiet location but close to shopping, restaurants etc. in Carmel Mountain Ranch. A totally wonderful find.

This is a lovely facility; clean and well-appointed. Our room had NO central air conditioning. It had a central fan which blew only warm air. It did have, in the bedroom, a small, portable AC unit that was, at best, ineffective. We arrived on a Saturday evening. Service at the front desk was perfunctory at best. There's ma $10 per day charge for parking on the open lot. Weren't aware of this extra charge at the beginning. On Sunday morning we went down to the free breakfast (a nice amenity). Despite signage, there were no muffins available; service on replenishing the other items was slow despite pretty significant demand. Since it's an Extended Stay suite hotel, there was in-room coffee which was, at best, tasteless. On the up side there was a workable microwave which we used r

Positive: Relatively close to the business I had to conduct. Overall cost was acceptable. Breakfast was included in the price. Room was clean and comfortable. Negative: Bathroom - water for the shower never got hot. After approximately 10 minutes of running the water it got lukewarm. There was a broken floor tile in the bathroom that "rocked" when stepped on - serious trip hazard. Mgt. was notified.

Overnight stay on January 15, 2026. Service: My check-in was at night, and the night staff was super friendly, helpful and attentive. Overall: price was very good, room was reasonable clean but please check for mold on the restroom, breakfast food was good. I would come back again but check for mold and let the front desk now right away. Restroom: was clean, towels fresh, i did find a bit of mold build up the top tiles in the shower the next morning. Please check you shower for mold and ask for a new room if you see it. (unfortunately for me i did not see until morning since i came pretty late at night) I suggest you leave the fan running just in case. Towels were all clean. Dominick is amazing, have gold status and got a room upgrade easy, lots of rooms available that evening. There is some others at the front desk who need training about status perks like complimentary upgrades and priority late checkout. Would like it if management reached out to me.
