Sonesta Atlanta Airport North

THE person that MADE this stay for us was the receptionist Barbara C. She was so outgoing, friendly, pleasant, warm, kind and helpful. She immediately made us feel welcomed. The gentlemen that met us when we pulled up in our car was extremely helpful as well. The room was great. No problems whatsoever. This is a perfect place to stay prior to catching a flight. Now! Off to Iceland.

This was the second time at Sonesta. The previous experience was much better. This hotel experience was average. For an Atlanta hotel, we didn’t experience the southern charm. There was confusion at the front desk which said the reservation was for three rooms, one for each person as opposed to what was reserved, one room two beds for three people. The location is 10 minutes from the airport which was what we expected. Parking is $25 per day which is reasonable for an airport hotel. The hvac was very noisy when on. The area has mainly fast food restaurants.

Positive: The location Negative: The carpet was dirty and no remote for the TV. The desk clerk stated if she changed me to another room it would be worse. The carpet looks like blood stains but she told it was from the paint on the dressers. The top sheet was damped.

Edit: Downgrading to 1 star for safety. The power went out this morning, so I didn't want to use the elevator. Unfortunately for me, the door from the stairs to the lobby was locked, forcing me to go outside into the parking lot just to get down to the lobby. Then I find out that they intentionally lock the lobby door to the stairs, and won't let you go back up to your room except through the elevator. I'm not sure how that's in any way legal, it feels like a massive fire hazard. I will not be staying at this hotel or any of it's associated hotels in the future. Avoid at all costs. I'm writing this review as I wait at the empty front desk for someone to come give me a new set of keys for the third time today because our lock messed up. Got delayed with Delta and stayed overnight at the Sonesta. The rooms are clean, comfortable & quiet. We had the pleasure of meeting the GM Heidi as we were checking out. Heidi went out of her way to help us get back to the airport. She is a very personable and helpful asset to the hotel. Great place to stay.
