Sonder One Platt Apartments Financial District

At first, everything seemed amazing at Sonder by Marriott. The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable, I was honestly impressed and happy with my stay. But after the second day, everything went downhill. I asked for housekeeping because I just wanted new towels and fresh linens. They told me they would come, so I left the room expecting it to be cleaned. When I came back, nothing was done, the room was still dirty. I thought maybe it was just a mistake, so I asked again the next day. They once again promised to send housekeeping, but it never happened. I ended up staying with the same towels for three days, which was very disappointing for a hotel that’s supposed to carry the Marriott name. I don’t recommend staying here at all. The room was not clean, it took over 8 Clorox wipes to clean the floor that needed to be mopped and after telling the front desk they only offered $50 off (since after looking at the pics and videos I showed they determined it wasn’t that bad), a late checkout, and brought up new sheets for us to change the bed ourselves since housekeeping was gone for the day. We didn't end up sleeping in the room at all. We even asked to be moved to a different room or a nearby location, they weren’t able to accommodate us. For $500+ a night you can find a better place to stay.

We had a fantastic time. The apartment was large, kitchen well equiped, bed very comfortable and the water pressure fantastic. Lucian on reception could not do enough to make our stay smooth and comfortable. They were a bright efficient, smiley pressence after a long day.

Check your financial statement when you book with them. I noticed that the charge on my card was $100 more than the confirmation details. When I called to inquire what this was for the lady tried to lie and tell me taxes, when I had the FULL breakdown in front of me including taxes. I was refunded but I can’t get that hour of time back. You will need to go through platt/back alley entrance which at $2k for 4 nights, is unacceptable mainly because you will be pleasantly greeted by mountains of trash. I’ve seen more rats walking back at night on platt street than I have in the last 4 visits combined, it’s so disturbing. Staff was meh (Carolyn was great). We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. There 4 people in our group. Overall satisfaction with the place is dependent not so much on the place itself but its location in one if busiest metropolitan areas. Pros: it very conveniently located. It’s close to many landmarks and you have the feeling of living in the city and feeling its vibe. The rooms are fine and have a kitchen with small stove, coffee maker and dishwasher. The customer service is pretty quick to answer through Sonder app. On the downside, by being located in Manhattan implies noisy neighborhood. So you’ll want to keep windows closed during the night. They have white noise device in the room though. The AC was giving trouble as it would turn off and on irregularly by making a lot of noise.
