Sleep Inn & Suites Ocala - Belleview

First, let me say I've traveled the world many times over and stayed at 5 star+ hotels and also stayed at dives (think unsafe neighborhood with car alarms, gunfire going off all night). I arrived close to midnight and check in was quick and friendly. I only stayed one night and paid <$65 so for what I paid I'd say I got exceptional value. The room (#328) was ok, dated but clean, well as clean as you can get for a dated property. There was a sign on the elevator indicating the property was undergoing a refurb. With that said it should be great if / when completed. The bathroom worked, the tv worked, the internet worked. I'd say that's a trifecta. I stayed at this Sleep Inn many times before when I’m sent to work in Ocala. It was always pleasant, however it wasn’t so this time around. There are always people smoking and loitering in front and lobby, and above all the scent of weed greets you at the entrance. It gets even stronger as you enter the elevator and hallways. Breakfast is good as it has always been, just beware of the woman guarding the fantastic feast. Her stares make you wanna leave the moment you enter the area. Pets are now allowed in any of the rooms, no wonder why the rooms are now filthy and has an awful odor. The young man at the front desk was unprofessional, having personal conversation on his cellphone using foul language for all to hear. Pretty meh for the price. Hot water didn’t work well, parking lot had a lot of trash. Staff was really nice! Room was clean but amenities in the room were quite dated and lacking. I think band for band you have way better options. If the rooms were $60-70 a night I’d say go for it.

We stayed at this Sleep Inn & Suites for a quick trip and had a very mixed experience. The first room we were assigned had German roaches within minutes of check-in. My husband is a pest control technician, so he immediately recognized what he was seeing. To the hotel’s credit, they moved us to a new room right away, and the front desk staff handled it politely. The second room was better, but still had maintenance issues. The sink was leaking, and the toilet was hard to flush. Nothing catastrophic, but definitely signs of an aging building that needs more consistent upkeep. Overall cleanliness was subpar. Alivia asked just the right questions to accommodate us! Great service. Our toilet whistled and we were near some kind of mechanical room or something that occasionally rumbled but it was clean and spacious and well worth the stop! Breakfast was better than many have to offer.
