Sleep Inn & Suites Bakersfield North

I have stayed at a lot of Choice hotels and understand the standards of the different brands. This was my first time staying in Bakersfield so I relied on the Sleep Inn brand name. I was disappointed. I expected more from a Sleep Inn. My first impressions were not good. I accidentally missed the small gate opening and ended up at the Motel 6 next door. That looked more like a prison than a hotel. Luckily I realized my mistake and backtracked to the small gate entrance of the Sleep Inn. The parking lot is totally gated but I still worried about my car. I walked into the lobby and was presented with a front desk behind a thick plexiglass enclosure. THEY CHANGED MANAGEMENT.||It changed for the worse. It’s no longer a family business where people cared about customer experience, I think they decided to become just like the other hotels around them. They treat you like you have substance use disorder or you are a dealer for substances.||Well, yeah, all the other hotels around them do that. Not judging. But they used to have international clientele from Poland and other places in Europe. That’s what I liked about it. And the fact that they cared about the customers.||They are now just like all the other hotels in the area.||DONT GO!!!!|| You’re going to be overcharged for a hotel experience that you can have across the street for half the price.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Didn't have an option for "negative stars" but BE WARNED! The motel comes complimentary with furry bathroom vents, broken electronics & bullet proof glass (to protect the receptionist). And as an added bonus, you get your very own Skid Row -Tent City, right out front! For those of you needing a little danger in your life, this is Bakersfields' very own Bates Motel 😅

The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. When I checked in, they surprised me with a $100 deposit requirement (card or cash). When I questioned the clerk, she said it was a requirement from "Choice" hotels. mmmm...I've stayed at many Choice hotels and never had to worry about a deposit EXCEPT in California. Another reason to stay away from that hot mess.

Shocking Experience – Racist and Unprofessional Manager! I am absolutely appalled by the behavior of the hotel manager during my stay. What was supposed to be a relaxing trip quickly turned into one of the most uncomfortable experiences I’ve ever had. From the beginning, the manager’s attitude toward me was noticeably different from how they treated other guests. I was spoken to in a condescending tone, ignored when I asked questions, and even witnessed them being polite and helpful to others right after being dismissive toward me. The difference in treatment was obvious and deeply upsetting.
