SLC Hostel

As I had a quick overnight in Salt Lake City, arriving by plane Wednesday night from Indianapolis, & departing by van Thursday morning to Butte, Montana, I wanted a place where I would be comfortable, & the accommodations would be suitable to my me, & for my needs. I've stayed at many hostels in my 66 years, but the SLC Hostel, is the BEST HOSTEL I've ever had the privilege to stay at! This is the 2nd time I've stayed at this hostel. My room was on the 1st floor, with a bathroom across the hall from me, & numerous shower facilities (& bathrooms) down the hallway. While my room was basic (as rooms in hostels are) it was everything that I needed. The whole place was very clean. Honestly I don’t know why is a 2 star hostel! I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my stay here ! Very clean and organised ! Clear instructions about how to check in ! I never once felt unsafe ! Very quiet! Is in the middle of everything - walking distance is not too bad! They provided me with a towel and shampoo ! What more could I ask ? My only issue were 2 things , but nothing major ! My bed was very squeaky and I never figured out how to set my own temp in my room! Other than that my stay here was great ! Would definitely come back !

So usually when I do my ski trips to salt lake I stay at the Camelot hostel since it’s within walking distance to the trax. Anyways upon doing my usual reservation it was canceled and no room available, but this location had rooms available. Bit leery about this since I need access to trax to reach the uta ski bus well it turned out to be just 50 yards extra. |So as the other reviews in Camelot show there is no attendant on sight you need to handle everything using a smartphone device with texting or email. |I decided to book a single room due to COVID and with my ski gear I haul along works better. Since the construction is newer the bathroom facilities are pretty nice. |The heating worked well in the evening so no need to wear a layer of clothes once inside.

In the next room late at night he calls home to India. Very loud voice, very annoying. I had to demand twice for quite. Then young people laughing and making noise in a echo filled kitchen. I thought it was the shower room at first. There is no signs asking people to be conciderate of others. Rough night. Bathrooms were clean, half a wash cloth, whats up with that? No signs of management anywhere, that encourages bad behavior. One more night to go.

Me and a friend stayed here for a simple two night weekend trip and I think that's what this place is perfect for. I wouldn't stay longer than a few nights, it's the basics of what you need for the price you can accept, without getting into "bad cheap" territory. Admittedly it's not the cleanest, our room has ants, the tap water smells, and the whole kitchen is questionable, but the bed's clean and comfortable and the bathrooms are too so I'd recommend this place for someone who just needs a room to sleep in. Also the location is perfect and parking was free and easy.
